We do not have a farm, but we do have 8 little back yard chickens. Everything we read said 2 hens for each person, but we have a LOT of eggs. Our hens are 8 months old and started laying in November. Now we are getting 6 to 8 eggs per day! We give a lot away, but I do want to learn to preserve them for when those times come that they are not laying. I thought for sure they would not lay in our Texas subzero temps and snow. (they do not like the snow). But we still got eggs everyday. I am looking forward to your class!

An important thing to notate here Carolyn that you forgot, and I know that you didn't mean to, is that for storing eggs long-term you cannot wash them. You have to let them stay as they are when they come out of the hen so that protective coating stays on them and keeps them sealed. I had no idea that you can store them for 6 months that way. I was told 3 weeks. So that's some new information. I haven't tried the water glass preservation method yet because we still get enough eggs throughout the winter to feed us. We don't eat a lot of eggs here because we try to eat healthy bye not consuming products that can raise your cholesterol. Eggs are very high in cholesterol, so some people do have to pay attention to that part of their diet. Eggs are a very good way to help people get the additional protein and nutrients if not eating a ton of vegetables or if they have some health conditions where they're not getting a lot of nourishment but you really have to watch the cholesterol factor. Great video overall though. I really enjoyed it!
@NS-pf2zc
3 жыл бұрын
She does cover that in her water glass video. A point about the cholesterol: it may be worth your while to look into how cholesterol is made in the body. Just as eating fat doesn’t equate to fat stored in the body (sugars s’more responsible for that process) cholesterol in eggs doesn’t create cholesterol in the body. It’s pretty cool to learn about if you want to take the time. 😊 There’s a lot of old dietary advice that is being shown to be erroneous. The Westin a price foundation has a lot of great information.

An extra tidbit for anybody that is curious: The brain requires a certain amount of cholesterol to function properly and heal the daily wear and tear. Flip the cooked eggs when there is barely any raw egg on top visible to you. Add American Cheese to the browned top visible to you, and flip the eggs over in half.
