This is one of those episodes I have never really cared about that much (other than just enjoying random jokes), so I wanted to review it to figure out why. I quickly realized it's because of its ending, so it turned into a "why doesn't this ending work for me?" kind of review

An earnest James L Brooks ending on top of a wacky Swartzwelder farce? Nuts and gum together at last!

My key problem with Three Eyes on Every Fish is that they take Marge's proactiveness to the point that she's firing on Homer for something he can't really control and then ultimately throwing him under the bus (by killing poor defenseless Blinky no less :P). She feels almost selfishly and apathetically proactive, while at least in this episode she's trying to reason with Homer and offer more reasonable solutions and only 'betrays' him because she's forced into an ethical corner, even if she's a bit too passive about it (and they do similarly kinda throw some details under the rug for her to be right like Bart actually briefly 'dying'). Really while otherwise top notch, Season Two was kinda bad for this oversimplified 'the right side is the 'Not Homer' side' approach, this was the season with 'Oh Brother Where Art Thou' after all. 'Bart Gets Hit By A Car' was a weird plot shift, but it was a different approach to it I guess.

I do like the episode for the most part, but I do feel that the Homer and Marge marriage crisis at the end does kinda come out of nowhere.
