Henry Ford made a "handshake deal" with Harry Ferguson to build and sell Harry's tractors under licence in North America as Harry owned all of the patents. Edsel Ford reneged on that deal and produced the tractors without paying Harry a penny. Harry took them to court and won, Ford had to pay Harry over $6 million, which back in the day was alot of money. Harry Ferguson was from England, he also designed and sold the implements to go with the tractor, the plough, cultivator, etc. Later Harry sold his patents to Massey-Harris, and the company became Massey-Ferguson.

That's so cool, Flathead V-8 8N. Looks absolutely beautiful, I just love the sound of it. The flat 6 is very cool too, that is a heck of a upgrade. The 8N is my favorite tractor. My dad had one when I was a young teen, I spent a quit a few hours on it. Fast forward to today, at 81 years he has a Ford Jubilee that he uses around his home for basic chores. Thanks for sharing this video of your classic Ford's. 👍

@@51farmalla Thank you. They look so similar. Mr Ferguson was a genius who invented, especially, the three point linkage, which all other tractor makers then followed. These little fergie tractors were adapted to help with the British trans polar polar expedition. Our hero, Edmond Hilary and friends, drove them across the ice, laying supply depots for the British team coming in their specially built track vehicles from the far side of Antarctica. Hilary did his job, but then had time to spare, so drove on all the way to the Sth pole, and then back. The British were not amused. They are the iconic tractor here in New Zealand.

Probably the purists. If this were some super rare tractor that was cut up I could see the disdain. But ford 8N and 9N's are EVERYWHERE. It's really a testament to their popularity and longevity of the series to see how many of them are still out there, and in running condition. I think both are very cool modifications. I've got an old 641 Workmaster and I have to admit as dead reliable as that tractor is I could certainly use that 6-cylinder's horsepower when fighting both high brush and the up-hill bits on the property. :)

He was a body shop many for many years and really did a number on it. He showed it to us and offered it sell it back to us for much higher price. It looked like new again. Also ran like new again.
