The cockpit never swiveled. That was an invention by Kenner, Hasbro and LEGO toys. There has never been any indication in the movies that it would move, nor in concept art.

Yep this exactly. Doug Chiang finally made it clear that only the cargo hold rotates a few years ago.
@Matt..S

@@fritz404 Well, that is also an invention for Mando. Doug Chiang only came to Star Wars in 95 and so he didn't design the Slave 1, except for Episode II. The problem with the rotating cargo hold thing is, that McQuarrie's matte painting for Bespin had both cockpit sections at the same angle. And frankly it makes zero sense for it to swivel about.

I can completely relate....while building the Boba Fett Version I almost went crazy. It fell apart pretty much at the same point... and at others as well, several times. I had many used parts, so probably a big factor here. First and only model where I had to use superglue in order keep my sanity, I have built almost all minifig scale brickvault star wars models...but this one was by far the most challenging. Once it is done, drop dead gorgeous.

It's very hard to see the color due to all the scenes that the ship is in are very dark. I would agree it looks black, especially on kamino. However if you look up renders and toys it's dark green. I would say it's suppose to be very dark green bordering on black, something lego don't have in their palette. I'm personally going with dark green with my moc but it's up to preference 👍🔥
@BlueTeam-John-Fred-Linda-Kelly
Жыл бұрын
I would probably have to re-watch it, but part of the dark green mixed with blue might be from the Clone Wars when the ship was in the hands of hando ohnaka's pirates, more specifically in his personal collection.

That break that you had happened to me as well when i was building the BoBa Fett UCCS slave 1. That lower half really isn't held on by all that much and if you don't have it attached properly that happens... I ended up using superglue a lot for this model as I found it necessary to in order for myself to feel a bit confident on handling it etc whenever I have to move it from landed to flight position. It's a great model when it's finished but yeah putting it together is a very big challenge especially near the end when it gets heavier in the bottom section which is fragile!

Thank you guys! Loved you fixing the seats, literally. My main issue with the previous Boba slave one was that rotating cockpit when only the cargo gold rotates in actuality. As a massive Fett fan the slave one firespray gunship is my favourite ship in all of star wars so I'm more than excited to see the Jango version tackled. Love this style of video, keep it up! Also Gozanti scale cruiser would be an awesome larger model to work on in the future 😄

Thanks! Ya know that was always my suspicion too. I think the main issue for a lot of folks was that the JS1 dark green just looks black (or very dark gray) on screen in episode two. The toy designers at the time most likely got raw digital files with no stylized lighting as seen in Kamino or the Geonosian asteroid field, so they naturally chose the color that registered well based on the given materials. What really mixed things up though was the color scheme of JS1 on the clone wars show. There it really doesn't look dark green (maybe the middle section a little) and it's seen in many differently lit environments. Even after it's destroyed and rebuilt (and it gets the red shell painted on and the all-white middle section), the shoulders still look more black than green. I frankly wouldn't be surprised if some folks choose to make the middle section of the JS1 dark green and keep the shoulder black, in the end, it's really up to what makes you feel right when building your model :)

I truly believe in paying for the instructions to compensate the creators time and effort. It's a beautiful build but the all in price is hard to get behind on this one. For the Jango version I kind of get it. But official USC Slave 1 is a near perfect set that you can still get nib for $250-300 less for the Slave 1 version of set and it's a far less finicky build.

what does "lego minifigure scale"mean? As in the build is to scale of the minifigure? cause if so the ship is way to small. There's space in the cockpit for multiple people which you see in Jango's slave in episode 2 when he's with young Boba and Boba in the mandalorian here: /watch?v=RJTeatDqXrc Friken awesome build though would love to have this on my shelf
@spantonb9k5

Minifigure scale typically goes by a minifigures height. Minifigures have quite odd body proportions. Imaging a person as wide as their legs are long. Star wars ships also tend to have a bit of a tardis effect where they can be bigger on the inside when looking at official sources for overall dimensions (what's typically used for scaling) and what then appears on screen. For this model specifically, the sizing and proportions are largely correct. However, some things had to be adjusted to compensate for the official ucs slave 1 cockpit piece being a little small
@Velakor9150

So amazing!!! I had a question on the 3mm rigid hose. Do you use the Lego branded ones or a third party? If you use a third party, are there ones you recommend?
@BrickVault
Жыл бұрын
We use lego branded everything for all our models. Nothing against off-brank compatible parts, they're honestly not bad. I've built an extra x-wing out of them just to know what it was like. Pretty decent stuff (never used a 3mm hose before though). With a precariously precise model like this, I say proceed with caution when using off-brand parts, small inconsistencies in a mold or two may have dire consequences on an already delicate build.
