You know we did 12 years a TV Fishing show out of Boston 1985-1997, traveled all over North America....people would ask or say....OH BEAUTIFUL....must be amazing.....but the behind the scene travel with gear, shooting ratios to get a good 30 minutes, nature fighting back.....that is not so romantic....it's WORK.......but....it all makes it worth while when you get there.....and live the experience......AND THEN, the real adventure.....making sure it PAYS for itself....and then some !!! Good Work !!!

Dick, that is so cool! What was the name of the show if you don’t mind me asking? And everything you said is so true. I’m a one man crew, so trying to film and have a good day of fly fishing (because no one wants to watch a skunk!) can be quite the challenge!! And that’s just the start of the work. Then comes the editing/post work and pulling it all together. Good thing I love it or there is zero chance I would ever be able to crank out a video!! I’m guessing you can relate ;) and still working on the getting paid part, but taking it one small step at a time and challenging myself to find new ways to tell stories, capture great shots, get clean audio (which is really hard next to loud rivers!), etc. It’s a continuous learning experience, and that’s a good thing in my book. I’m sure you probably already know this, but for every fishing video I publish, there’s usually 3 or 4 trips that don’t make it because all the elements didn’t come together. Really is a labor of love! Thanks so much for the comment and support Dick and hope I can learn some stuff from you!! Take care, dan

4 жыл бұрын
Hey there Brett. Appreciate the kind words man! The Exumas are spectacular, and getting to see the islands from above is a real treat for sure! But your concerns are valid. When I landed in GGT, customs went thru my bags and found my camera and drone. I had to pay them half of the value in cash of all my camera gear and was held up in their office for about 45 minutes while my family and friends waited on me. It was a bit nerve-wracking, but thankfully I just barely had enough cash (and it was a substantial amount). They told me I could get my $$$ back when I left the Bahamas and would need to stop by the customs office before departing. I figured my money was as good as gone, but surprisingly, they actually had my envelope of cash and returned it back to me once I showed them I still had all my gear, and didn't sell it to someone locally. So, in the end, it all worked out. But definitely wasn't the most pleasant of experiences ....
