Great explanation of eye dominance and why it’s important. Dean I am going to introduce my 15 yo grandson to trapshooting. He up to this point has only shot air rifles. He is right handed, left eye dominant. He is very athletic so I am wondering if I should start him shooting left handed? My only concern with doing this is he lives out of state and will only get to shoot when he visits so he won’t get to practice very often. I’m hoping he likes it because he has a gun club only a couple of miles from his house where he could shoot more. Your thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Terry

Excellent! I shoot right hand and right eye dominant. I shoot MUCH better with both eyes open. . .99 percent of the time. Except for extremely close right to left crossers like low house at Skeet station 1 or Skeet station 8 which I shoot much better when closing my left eye after acquiring the target. With extremely close right to left crossers I think my eye dominance changes as the target moves from my right to left and is so close.

You are not alone. However you are among the few who have figured it out.
