The way you make visual contact with the target dictates how you engage with it - we typically see the clay emerge from the training in three phases:
A flash - under too much power for the frame rate of the human eye to see detail, a streak and then a clear distinct target.
My job as a sports vision optometrist is to ensure we optimise your visual acuity to shorten these phases down and improve your time on the target.
However, the way you use your eyes before, during and after the time the target is released is vital. Search strategy can be taught and a more efficient target acquisition can be learned - as you can see from the video - mine needs work!
