I was posted at Upper Heyford as an Air Traffic Controller from 1969 till 1972. This is the first time I've been able to see the pilot's point of view........thank you!

As a young lad born of parents and grandparents that were aviation enthusiasts, we spent many hours standing at the end of the runway of UH waving to the pilots taking off and landing. Sometimes the pilots waved back. The best days of my life!

Thanks for posting. My dad flew in the 55th at UH from '74 to '77 when I was just a wee lad. It's a treat to see this footage.

Thanks for this video which I showed to my son. It brought back memories of my two years at RAF Lakenheath as a WSO in the 493rd TFS from 1980-82.. I recall only going to Tain once.

@@tonyhaynes9080 Yes, Holbeach was a regular destination. Also Cowden ..... sometimes evening, single-ship, medium altitude trips through the "Tumby Bomb Plot" area "dropping tones."

I'm happy to see that you got video to document the great days of flying the Vark in the Fighting 55th...I thought I might have been in this 3-ship, but my logbook tells me otherwise. Many thanks...Ken Holder!!!

Was that the range at Wainfleet? I remember driving there from my Grandmothers house in Skegness to get some video of the British Tornadoes using the range.

Alway wonder how far up the Baltic Sea the F-111's flew and how often they would run into Soviet fighters in general.
