what I have found is that other aircraft's radars won't find you if you have an internal bay and are at really high altitudes for the game. In multiplayer I tend to climb to 40-50 thousand feet and use the tsd or eots to find targets. The good thing about tsd is that the fighter won't know about a AIM 120 until it goes pitbull which they very rarely dodge since its so close to impact.

The disadvantage is that your weapons available are quite limited. And you rely on others information. In PvP if you are alone your stealth is kinda useless as for some reason you dont have anti radar misslies (maybe balancing?). And in a team you get your informations from others which are problaby already on the targets they spotted so all you do is wait for an opportunity to make your few shots count and in the meanwhile be simply a data hub. For PvP the only appeal I can see that keeps drawing people into this aircrafts slot so strongly is the percieved saefty you can fight from and the feeling of technical superiority.

I think the biggest misconception is a RWR Spike does not mean the radar can see you, just means it's hitting you..
@CxOrillion

Exactly. What it really means is that you can see their radar. Their radar has enough energy to make it to you, but maybe not enough energy to make it back, or perhaps not enough to make it back with enough strength and resolution to find a real target.

One tip with the F45 that I want to say for anyone seeing this. On the TSD, if you just hover over an aircraft without actually clicking in to select it, you can keep them tracked, without them receiving a RWR warning. What this allows you to do is fire an Aim120 and the missile will keep tracking the target (even though you don't actually have a radar lock) until it is within Pitbull range, then it activates its own built-in radar, and they will receive the RWR warning then of course. I will say though, when you fire the Aim120 they will receive a lock warning for a second or 2 so be mindful of that. Or you can just do a funny and turn on MADDOG and fire it straight with no lock whatsoever, but then the missile is no one's friend, even for your own team so be careful, it'll lock and track the first thing it sees :)
@TheFerretsWheels

As long as you don’t turn the radar on they will not get an STT warning. You don’t even need to keep the target bracketed once the missile is off the rails. As long as the target stays on the TSD the missile will track using datalink

That was a fantastic demonstration. It's very hard to find such thorough and accurate videos here on this platform. Thank you for putting them out. I routinely watch yours and Slippery Gypsy's videos multiple times, you guys both easily have the highest caliber content there is to find. There is some very good older content, but for the most part such good information is just not there on other channels. VTOL VR tutorials is a good old channel, but one channel I stumbled across is jarrod0987. He has a lot of content that makes you want to get in to the game and reproduce it for yourself, those kinds of videos really are the most compelling to me. Sorry for rambling.

@michaelwestmoreland2530

@@getstuk87 You could arrange "Red Flag" excersises on the micro scale, and there was basically a kind of "DM mode" for the simulated campaigns (STILL WORKS OF STRATEGIC AND TACTICAL ART ON PAR WITH BEING THE DIGITAL EQUIVALENT OF DAMASCUS STEEL), so you could dive in and see what the enemy saw, detected, reacted to, etc etc. It was HEAVILY assumed of course, this was the 90s and we don't have hard Stealth data 30 years later, but it was relative and consistent if nothing else.

There is a feature for seeing the radius/range of various radar threats. Basically on the TSD, you can see a big dotted yellow circle around the enemy ground radar and depending on how your plane is positioned relative to the radar, it will grow or shrink so you can see in real time how hidden you are. If you fall in that circle, you are within range of being detected. It’s super helpful. I believe it’s a mod, not an official feature

Must be a mod because it's definitely not in the base game on the F45, but this would be a really cool feature to include in the base game in a future EW-oriented aircraft or fictional 6th generation fighter.

@TheFerretsWheels
2 жыл бұрын
You have the same radar cross section to all vehicle so it is the same in MP. Playing BVR against other F-45 requires you to use the EOTS to scan, because if you turn on your radar to find targets, their TSD will pick up the signal and mark you. Ground height can make a difference due to curvature of the Earth and ground clutter helping to mask your signal. Some modern Radar systems install a scanner on a high pole to try to combat this

You use the TSD to lock fox 3s in the F-45. With your radar on you will see the radar cone appear on the TSD. If you want the box to appear on the hud you need to set the radar to STT (single target tracking). There is no real use for it in the F-45 as the only radar guided missiles it uses are the 120D which uses datalink to track targets. You don’t even need your radar on in most cases
