Whoever on topside agreed to this, is not the sharpest knife in the box. If that arresting cable snapped, there would have been a lot of broken hearts on that deck.

MAN! I'm surprised as hell they allow the spectators on the flight deck- that close to the action during landings!! Cool as hell though! :) Would have loved to be there!

@Alan W... that's the first thing i thought when i saw the crowd of people on the flight deck... the potential for disaster, injury, and loss of life here is astounding... any one thing go wrong, and the scene would immediately change to one of horror... the airshow incident in germany immediately comes to mind... this was a reckless gamble... the flight deck is not a place to put a viewing stand...

Hey man. Where you been? What up with some more cool videos. Its been almost a yr, at least that's how it feels. Your pretty much the only hello guy, cause everybody else do airplanes too. Nothing wrong with plane but I'm more of a heli guy, you know what I mean. Helis are much more fun & harder to fly. Looking forward to see more of your videos.

@0909bram36 - was an awesome time. My bro bought the Checkmates DVD to watch, I still need to steal it from him so I can watch it too. I'm really hoping they have another Tiger Cruise next year. I guess there is one last deployment planned for the Enterprise next year so I'll be pressing my bro to find out it they will have one last Tiger Cruise when they finish that deployment. Now that will be the cruise to be on if they have it!

Hi Mark, great video of the warship and the aircraft. Thank you for sharing this with us. I bet it was loud standing there and it looks to be a dangerous place to be standing there on the flight deck with the jets landiing.

If you look towards the rear of the aircraft you'll see a hook hanging down; this hook grabs one of four wires stretched across the deck of the carrier and it's those arresting wires that slow the aircraft down. As soon as the pilot hits the deck he'll shove the the throttles to full power in case he misses a wire so he can get airborne and try again. When that happens it's called a "bolter".

It's an approx 35mm diameter steel cable and it's changed every 125 arrested landings to prevent structural failures

I think that it pretty damn cool that its possible to do this. I had an opportunity to do this when my sister was stationed at North Island but passed it up. I'm glad the hippie safety mongers haven't gotten this shut down. People need to relax and STFU.

This is way too dangerous for civilians to be that close, on an aircraft carrier recovering, launching aircraft of any kind PERIOD! and all some say is: *It's an airshow*?? give me a fricking break! THIS is totally irresponsible of our government to let this happen and more so the CO himself to agree to let this go on!. Anything could happen here, even the smallest of an accident to kill people and all it takes is one death of an civilian then you have an even larger problem!. AIRSHOW or whatever THIS IS NO PLACE FOR CIVILIANS! EVER! No matter what the occasion... this is STUPIDITY!. I'd like to know who and how many had their heads up their azzes on this one to allow this.

get your head out of your ass dude, it called TIGER CRUISE. Tiger cruise is the chance for family and friends to see up close what the US Navy does on a day for day basis. In this case, guests (usually family of Navy Personnel) observe at sea operations during the transit from Hawaii to San Diego. As far as safety is concerned, yeah, shit can go wrong, as with anything, even crossing the street can get you killed, but you know sometimes you just gotta let it go. All of those civilians on board are made very well aware of the dangers of being on a flight deck before they come on board, i know i'd take the chance any day just to see these incredible operations up close, wouldn't you? are are you too scared? or maybe you are a blood sucking lawyer? or just a member of the Fun Police? let it go dude, i bet they all had the time of their lives, get over it.

I agree that this is such a dangerous thing to witness. I personally would love to go on a tiger cruise to watch this but I'd hate for one of those arresting cables to snap or some other incident to occur which can severely injure or kill. Sorry but whilst I appreciate the sacrifice that these sailors give for their country as with any armed forces, it really is just too dangerous for my liking.

I was on the Enterprise for 11 months, and the most that I ever been during ops was on the O11 , or observation deck with big ears on taking pictures. You are 100 percent right some these comments on here are from stupid people who never was on the flight deck of a carrier.
