I was very good at launching in F1 2019, I could match and many times beat the famous pros in multiplayer. It was the only thing I was good at. I quit playing for a while. I would say to be careful starting in rich and overtake. You're way more susceptible to spinning the wheels if your revs are too high. I would recommend starting in standard and normal ERS. Then, once you start getting traction, put it into rich and overtake. It usually only takes a second so you won't lose too much time. Hopefully, by the time you quick shift into 3rd, you should have enough traction that rich and overtake won't spin your tires.
@PJTierney
4 жыл бұрын
I would agree with this, unless you're really good with throttle management Rich will light up the rears too early. Overtake doesn't give any ERS boost before 2nd gear.
@Hamoae

@@Hamoae Are you sure you mean ERS and not your fuel settings or DRS? In F1 2021, you can no longer change fuel mix during the race, as engine modes were banned in real life F1 as well. You can only switch into Lean Fuel mix now during Safety car phases or during Practice and Quali If you mean DRS, you can use DRS freely in the DRS zones in Practice and Quali, but during a race you need to have been less than 1s behind another car in the detection zone to get access to DRS in the DRS zone. (Also the track needs to be dry enough and enough time must have passed for DRS to even turn on) If you mean ERS, well, make sure you have ERS assist or Energy assist turned off

Even "controller peasants" can handle it, so I'm sure you can too 😉 F2 cars are harder to launch than F1 however due to the narrower tyres. According to Lando Norris, the best way to start an F2 car is to full-throttle off the line, then let off the throttle almost immediately to let the tyres bite, then go again.

PJ Tierney think I’ve found out why. If you hold the throttle at 10% for example in F1 2020, the revs just keep rising until they reach max, where as the previous F1 games if you held the throttle at say 10% then the revs would reach 9000 rpm and stay at 9000, just like a real car would so I think this must be some type of glitch
@ccramit

I always aim higher, then release gently as the fifth light comes on. Just gotta feather it a bit. There's no set number of revs so as long as you're around 11k, it should be ok.

The manual launch with no assists is so hard for a newcomer! I've been playing career mode on Formula 2 for a week and at the race start I am either too slow and lose a few positions, or if I force just a little bit more I spin the wheels and hit the wall. I still can't find where the middle ground is, or what exactly I should do different. I think my problem is that I don't know exactly when the rear tires get enough grip for me to increase the throttle, and how hard or softly I should increase it. What should I look for in the visuals, or in my wheel, to feel this?
@PJTierney
4 жыл бұрын
Best way to identify is the audio. If the revs are flying high, you’re spinning the wheels. Also, depending on your FFB the steering may be getting loose and it won’t hook again until you’re under control.
@HenriqueCavalcanti

@@PJTierney Still, I think the approach for Formula 2 is totally different. The best starts in F2 seems to rely in a much higher throttle push before the clutch release, but I still couldn't figure it out after repeatedly restarting races for 2 days straight against 110 AI and no assists. Since you can do a full season in F2 at this year's career, It's incredible no one teaches this for Formula 2 anywhere on KZitem. Maybe you should consider doing a video about it, you would probably be the first-

Not a bad idea, however Overtake only deploys full power from 2nd gear onwards so you may be better off waiting for the tyres to bite before you enable it. Also, too much power to the rear wheels = spin. If you can handle it though, by all means press Overtake on the grid so that you don't have to worry about it straight after.
