that type of flex is allowed, what the wing is not allowed to do is flex across the horizontal plain where the end plates get closer to the ground because that would create a venturi effect and add way more down force like the old Red Bull with Vettel and Weber, theres a reason these wings have slot separator where you see the wing flattening out

Youre talking nonsense mate, top part of the wing is the one which gets tested for flexing the most..

You'd be amazed how big of a difference something that small makes. It completely changes the balance of the car. If you didn't have the wing flew down like that in highspeed the car would be extremely heavy on the nose in all highspeed corners making the car unpredictable unless you compromise the low speed. Just That small amount of flex gives the car the downforce it needs at the front in low to medium speed corners and gives it the slight understeer in highspeed to give the driver confidence in the car. Plus it makes a huge impact down the straits. That bit of flex probably gains them 3 tenths a lap or more when dialed in perfectly

every team has had this setup on the front wing since at least 2022. same plates that meet flush but arent attached to allow flex. i have no idea how the fia allows this from them all. even if its within the measures allowed, its clearly designed to flex, and i thought that was against the rules

Mercedes had such bendy front wing since 2021. They had massive advantage in that area over the rest including Redbull back then. I haven''t been following this topic after.

So long as it passes the official testing regime, it's legal. All teams are optimising their performance, while having regard for the rules and testing procedures. Another team will probably surpass Mercedes at some stage, or maybe just copy them.

Great video. You can clearly see the flex at the end plate(outer part). Clever solution. Shame AM where told last year it was illegal

@@GPitstra37 Not really. The wings have to flex or they would snap under load. They can not be rigid by design. Go take a look at the McLaren, it's much worse.
