DISCLOSURE: The following comment is an opinion on what possibly could have been a factor on why Schumacher's Benetton B194 was so competitive in '94. The information was taken from various sources on the internet on the topic. I personally wasn't on the team and cannot verify without a doubt that any claims I read against Schumacher's B194 car are true. It is believed by some that Benetton was using Traction Control in '94. In '93 Traction control was allowed however the software that engages this feature was never removed the car for '94. The team allegedly hid the software entry that activates the traction control from the main menu on the display however there was still a way to access it if you knew the code. They sited that it was too much trouble to remove however an analyst from another team questioned Benetton's response and insisted that all teams must follow the rules ... it only took him 2 days to clear previous settings off his teams system and they had ALL winter to make the necessary changes that would keep the team in compliance. Schumacher in particular could have been using it while then teammate Jos Verstappen was not. Jos had mentioned that he knew something was different about Michael's car. Schumacher had the ability to floor it at the start without concern about wheel spin. Take a look at this video and you decide if traction control could have been used. I also read that Senna had a strong feeling that Benetton was using illegal tactics. He also mentioned he was not comfortable with the Williams car in '94. Couple this with his need to drive at the limit to keep up with Schumacher's Benetton and you have a dangerous mix. It's true Senna was pushing the limit in a car he was less than comfortable driving but it's very possible he could have just been up against a superior and illegal machine (B194). Rest Peacefully Senna

@@filipborin555 Even a former Benetton engineer recently confirmed that their cars did indeed use traction control, albeit via an ingenious loophole that made it perfectly legal; but there is no doubt about one thing, and there hasn't been since the 1990s as far as I'm concerned: Shumi won his first world championships using traction control, which doesn't reduce his value, in my opinion, far from it: he's always been someone who did whatever it took to win, and I appreciate that; but it's a fact, and it cannot be denied

... the whole rule was broken, back with safety car, only with rain, no doubt the cars lost brake temperature and tires, of course, that Schumacher was fitted with its very well masked linear traction control system in its module of control, as the engineer Willem Toet explains. In this race, Senna's life was on the decline.
