The reason I prefer planes with landing gear is that I have turfed too many planes trying to hand launch. I feel like more than 50% of my maidens on hand launched planes have resulted in a crash. When taking off with landing gear if a plane is nose heavy you will know because you have to pull back harder on the stick but once you are off the ground you can trim for it and then just readjust CG before the next flight. With a hand launch the only way you know that it is nose heavy or that it needs some reflex is when it nosedives and you have to pull out the glue. I also fly from a field that has no glass to softly land a plane. Not a criticism of your design though, just letting you know that for me it has nothing to do with a desire for it to be scale and it's more about function. Love this design though.

@@Vaeloron totally I wish I had a landing strip AMA field local. Unfortunately I have thick grass fields that won’t allow a plane with less than 3” tires take off. I’ve tried trust me. The size gear needed for my field will weigh my planes down to the point they can’t fly

Very interesting. Was going to ask if you build prop planes but you started discussing landing gear and the issues with it. Thought about a build challenge. Don’t know if you seen the movie Sky crawlers (check out the beginning) the Teacher’s plane, double prop.

I would like to get a 3d printer and learn how to use it. And I want to ask I would be interested in a twin 80mm FA-18 with retracts. I have a 90mm f18 from freewing and the A4 skyhawk from motion rc. No one makes a scale twin FA-18 Hornet. I think it would be awesome

WOW! Is printed in standard PLA or is that a colorfabb Light weight (LW-PLA) type? Looks like an incredible design! Looking forward to slicing it up and giving it a shot. Thanks for making these videos.

It’s actually 3d lab print active foaming LW pla. Very similar to color fab

@@hotlapkyle Just bought the model off cults! Super excited. I've had issues with LW PLA in the past, especially with black (which is the natural color for this build!)- it does not like the sun at all and is very very fragile. Have you tried normal PLA or PLA+? Any disadvantages of using that material aside from the extra weight? Would you suggest doing LW-PLA with a thin paint instead?
