These engines hold up really well, as long as they've had basic maintenance done. I just rebuilt my F23A1 about 8 months back. It had 245k miles on it at the time. The block was impeccable though, all the original cross-hatching was still there, and even the rod and main bearings were in good shape considering their age. Nonetheless, I still took it to the machine shop and had them do their normal battery of tests. I took the opportunity to balance everything as close as I could. I was just aiming for a stock type rebuild, so I was able to source genuine Honda main and rod bearings in the color coded packs. I did get a beautiful set of pistons from Hylift in Detroit. I got all the pistons and rods within one gram of weight with each other, and I decided to keep the balance shafts. I also had my head built by a well known local cylinder head company in Birmingham, Alabama. I've put about 13k miles on it since the rebuild, and it runs great, it doesn't use a bit of oil, and the compression is very consistent across all cylinders, within 5-10 Psi. I'm getting ready to do a manual trans conversion on it, and I'm considering adding a turbo, haven't decided. But I figure if I just add a max of 6 Psi of boost, I think it would still be super reliable and still get decent fuel economy, but not make so much power that I will tear up the gears in a transaxle.

It's a reliable car and w/ more of tlc, it sure last even more. I need to hone it a bit, it's all glazed up. Good luck on your project and a little bit of boost wont hurt. Thanks for the feedback.

I've never done this myself but someone told me if you have a cardboard box, like a beer flat box, you can stick the pieces into it to keep them in order.

When I had my original non vtec replaced. The heads were impeccable, per the mechanic. I always change my oil every 3k miles. In whatever I drive. Awesome video. Thanks for sharing everything you work on. I appreciate it.

Hello ..f18b2 is the same component.. accept the size of the pistons and the bore

It'll be a good project l'd say. It'll be something different than G22 and G23. Make sure that F18b2 block height are the same like H22 or F22 and also the crank snout are same size of the H22 crank pulley. For your waterpump, check if you can swap the H22 pulley. You need to experiment for the headgasket. Try the F18b2 on the H22 or F20b cyl head, verify that it'll cover all the oil drain ports corner. Good luck on your project if you decide to do it. F20b cylinder head will be a great choice for your F18b2, it has 85mm bore also.
