Just wanted to say thank you for your review. I bought the Madstad because of your review and it was everything you said it was. I absolutely love it. I had an Optic Armor plus 2 and then an F4 plus 4 and this shield blows those two away. Extremely pleased. Thanks again!

Just took wife out, combined highway 75 to back roads, she is committing to 75% Maybe 80% less buffeting!. She loves it, She said when she liens forward now there is NO wind, but she is very comfortable just kicking back. Temp was 51 degrees 2 mph wind. Side note, I did move to the highest level, and during my review it was actually only and inch away from highest level. Total up and down adjustment is 2.75 inches. Make sure you put on centerstand or have someone to hold to check the 55 to 60 degree windshield angle. big diff from looking at it on the side stand.

So about a 500-mile update, went out today for the first time with my open face, mad stad shield down in the lowest position with a 17 mile an hour wind, angle at about 56 degrees, highway speeds, just what a beautiful windshield! So aerodynamic, just a touch of light wind,! So much better than the baggershield convertible I just can't tell you! I'm now beginning to like the looks of this, better than the bagger Shield! That is when I have it completely in the down position, it's just so much less real estate, kind of more like Honda wanted it to look with the shorter Shield, yes it turns into a little bit of an ugly duckling when you start raising it up and moving that angle forward, but I love to have that option for when the Mrs is on the back, had her out the other day again, not in the full up position this time, still had about three quarters of an inch to go, with just a tad angle front, probably 57°, and she said she felt nothing back there and just completely enjoys the nice quiet ride now! Yeah I know the 2018 gold wings are out, but I'm going to stick with my F6B, love it!

I have the identical bike and 15” windshield. I experimented by dropping the upper holes on the shield to the lower holes on the bracket. It performed exactly the same, even at highway speeds. I ended up drilling new holes for the screws to mount in the upper bracket holes. It looks so much better, and you can see completely over the windshield.

Just opened up the box that my shield came in and started looking through the instructions and yeah, I have to agree with your comment about that being a minus. Could have done better with the little instruction pamphlet IMHO but the product itself is superb and that's what is really important. Can't wait to install this shield on my F6B whenever I get a call from the winter storage guy to tell me to come and pick my bike up, can't wait!

Thanks for the video John! Great review. Never even thought about this windshield before. I’m on the F6B forums also. Just ordered one for my 2016, 15” being 6’3, I’ve always thought the buffeting was normal for the F6B, had a 1200 and 1500 prior and didn’t have the issues. But I had put a 14” F4 on and love it for the scratch resistant properties since I clean it every day. I ride home after midnight 35 miles so I get the bugs. But been riding for 3 years and just got used to the buffeting. So when I saw your video I had to order one! Yeah I hate the buffeting all the one since most of my riding is between 55 and 75 up hear in Southern PA. Luckily they are having a sale this weekend with 15% off. Will let you know when I get it on and thanks again. And like the rest of the F6B’ers, 3 windshields and 2 different seats so far!

Definitely let me know how you like it once you get it on, again it won't get rid of all of buffeting , but you are going to be amazed at how much less you get, now when you get up right behind an 18-wheeler you're still going to feel it. keep me posted

John Keller Hey got the Windshield installed last week with the 15” and it sits right at nose level for me at the lowest level. being 6’3 with 34” inseam, but I have a Saddleman seat on my deluxe,!so ordered a 13” windshield to replace it and sending the 15” back. I also have the hand wings installed too, so it does cause buffeting too. But love the windshield! Especially the adjustable part of it. I keep mine all the way back and down also. I had an 18” with my F-4. Think the 13 will work out much better so I can see over top. Don’t think it looks bad either! Didn’t take long to To get used to the look, mine the matte silver so I have everything blending in on mine. Thanks again for the recommendation

Fire away! I can tell you what I've ended up doing, I have a tilted full-back all the time now. Either in the complete down position or the complete up position, during the winter it stays in the up position pretty much all the time except for when I have to ride at night which is very seldom now that I'm not communing. I just noticed when I tilt it forward even a little bit, I get some air coming up over the back of my head and hitting me in the neck and I don't like it! it's nowhere near near what you feel behind a big, non-dual, tall windscreen, that long Rider Shield when I would been down a little bit, really felt like it was shoving my head right into the damn fairing!

Christopher Smith , hey good hearing from you, yeah in the video I have it I think half or all the way up, 90% of the time I keep it all the way down at a 55 degree degree angle in it looks more like a regular shield! The 15-inch is definitely the way to go for looks. All the way down will give you really good protection from wind buffeting, but if you're on a long trip you may want to raise it up half to full position, and give up the looks a little , to get that very quiet smooth ride, I just can't tell you how much when it removes from the top part of your helmet compared to the bagger Shield. could never go back to the bagger Shield after feeling the comfort this gives me. Ride safe my man!

John, did you notice the acrylic baseplate leaves a bit of gap between the factory plastic "dashboard" and the acrylic baseplate? I've taken pictures and asked MadStad about this twice and it's been crickets. I'm not as concerned about the gap visually speaking, but I've noticed when you ride in a heavy rain, water definitely finds its way into that gap where the headlight and other electronics undoubtedly live. Just an observation on my side. I think I see the same gap at certain points in your video but can't be sure with the lighting. Thanks, John.

I have been looking for some information on this windshield set up but dang, the constant wibble-wobble of the camera makes it really difficult to watch this. Put the camera on a tripod or something. I am not sure what is the Madstad. Is it both parts of that set up, or is the Madstad just the outer part attached to the stock windshield?? I found the info I needed on a Motorcycle parts website. For those who, like me, were not sure of the breakdown of this windshield, this is what was written on their website; “The Madstad system consists of a base windshield in gloss black (it replaces your factory windshield), our patented adjustable brackets bolt to this base shield, and then the new windshield attaches to the brackets.” Now that I know exactly what this system consists of, and also the information from John Keller, I am planning to order one for my 2013 F6B.

Kim Wiltz you're welcome! One thing I would recommend if you order one, and I'm going to contact mad stad about this, is to make sure that they completely clean where they engrave their name at. That dust will come off and stick to the windshield and it's hell to get off! It's like they did not clean mine completely before shipping, and if you get one, make sure that you take a toothbrush and get inside that engraving of the mad stad, and make sure all the particles are out.

Nice video with exceptional detail on the windshield, this gives folks a very clear overview of the shield and what to expect with fitment and ride quality!. Thanks for your time and effort into posting this, it really helps folks making a decision on such an expensive item! -- Question, do you think at the lowest position with stock seat, a 15 inch shield would work for an inseam of 32 inches, I am 5.11 and after measuring, 15 inch screen seemed about right, however I am particularly interested in the dark gray shield, any thoughts about that? I tried a klock werks flare 13 inch and there is way too much buffeting and i can easily see over it with a couple of inches to spare, night riding would not be an issue with a 15 inch klock werks i don't believe. Any feedback is appreciated, tough I know because its such a personal choice.
@johnk12345100

Your size and inseam is very close to mine, I'm actually 511 and 3/4! If I had a passenger I would definitely go with the 15 in 4 passenger comfort and less wind in the highest position. I think if I did mostly single ride in, now that I've had this for a while, I may opt for the 13 in dark like you're looking at. Reason being it does hit me about right on the nose in my comfortable riding position in its lowest position, so although I am looking over it it's right there. I would talk to mad stad and make sure if you order the 13 and not happy with it, you can exchange. I think I tried that exact shield, in Clockworks and it did suck for buffeting! You will not have the fitting as a single Rider with that 13 I can almost guarantee it. Thanks for watching Good luck

John Keller thank you Sir for your time and energy, I didn’t expect a response so quickly. I will call them tomorrow to get some additional clarification. We are very close in measurement as I am probably a half inch shy of 6 foot with same inseam. I sold my 2015 ultra classic for the F6B, - if you have ridden both and are not brand loyal then you know why! I had a LRS on the Ultra and the wind / buffeting was perfect, maybe due to the design of the redesign 2014 vent, but wow it was a perfect ride from air management perspective, but lacking in performance, handling, turning and smooth roll on power. I’m glad I made the swap, now I just wish I had the same wind protection and radio - that’s another story.. I will take the pure rush of riding an F6B any day over the Ultra. I ride mostly solo, my wife is only 5.1 so hopefully whatever works for best solo will work for her on the occasional rides she does.
