Greetings David. I have been watching many of your videos back to back this evening and just wanted to take the time to tell you how I am both amazed and inspired by your work. I have been a career art director first in the magazine industry and eventually onward to the film and television industries. Therefore I have a very surgical focus when it comes to almost any artistic work. And I must thoroughly congratulate you on such talent and skill. Your overall craftsmanship and attention towards even the smallest details upon these small scale airplane models is at moments mind-blowing. One overall and very clever detail and styling of yours that I deeply appreciate is your use of shade washes across the bulk of the airplane models' surfaces. Washing the otherwise pristine sparkling outer bodywork with dark shadings to represent various lubricant fluid leaks and general age and wartime usage is the one key detail which transforms your particular model replicas from otherwise shiny plastic mass-produced toys to that of authentically styled and miniaturized museum reproductions. Very well done Sir! Now after seeing your shading techniques, I am going to begin applying your same technique to my own model builds. I honestly believe that such overall shading is the one key element my models have been missing all these years now. Thanks for the inspiration and lesson well learned. Keep up the fantastic work. Cheers!

How about a video on your work station? What brushes you use, paints and glues? Maybe include the items that aren't hobby related that you use to make such fine models. As always, your models and vids are top notch.

Jefferson Sheng What does the larger scale have to offer? This build is of high quality, and that he has done it in 72nd should be given more kudos! I recently built 2 kits (both airfix spits) 72nd & 48th i had to put more work into the 72nd for the same result.

Nice job. I wonder if the chipping done with the chromate green paint might've looked more toned-down if you did this step before the wash. Thanks for your videos. They are quite fun and interesting to watch.

Pěkné, inspiroval ses Lachoutem nebo Diegem? :D Je tam vidět nějaký takový potenciál... Možná by ještě stálo zato lehce proříznout obtisky očí a tlamy a znovu zakápnout washem.

I have one question: shouldn't the drop tank look clean, like a brand new thing straight from the factory? Weren't they used for one way only, than dropped into the ocean? I even heard somewhere that landing with drop tanks was not allowed for safety reasons :)
@iacek123
9 жыл бұрын
***** Then you are right, probably planes that did not enter combat, but had their drop tanks attached had no need to release it. Also the procedures of landing on carriers were probably way different than on landing fields... maybe they were allowed to land with empty tank only? And also the drop tank could get dirty on the ship already, before attaching it to the plane. The reason i wrote my comment was because i read a book where one of pilots during emergency landing in Britain got killed after his drop tank set on fire when it hit the ground (gear malfunctioned).

I really dislike these overall oil washes, just destroys the model for me, making everything murky and muddy. Washes are great but they should be targeted. You may as well dunk the model in ink.
