To put minds at ease..my f80 has been a daily/mexico car for 30k miles. Fbo, dct, bm3 stg2/xhp stg3 the whole time. And now it’s flex for the last 2k miles. Stock CH with vtt cbc. No issues at all. Bottom line, do your maintenance and check your plugs. I’m a KZitem educated dude, this stuff is easy.

Hey buddy, just bought a 2017 F80 M3 with about 45k miles for 43k. It's a DCT, I've read and done research on the crank hub matter too. I'm keeping the car stock for the first half year since that's what I do with most of my project/hobby cars. Thinking I just put a CBC plate on it for now and when I do start modding it (catbacks, charge pipes, CSF intercooler, SSR downpipes, a tune, and etc) I'll put the full crankhub in. What do you think? Would a CBC plate do enough for stock?

I think you’ll be fine as long as don’t do any anti lag, launches, or kick downs.

I have a stock M4, I use kickdown often when spirited driving. Did a kick down 2 days ago and spun the hub. Taking it to a shop literally today. I’d advise a crankhub fix asap. You don’t know when or if it’s going to happen and I just happen to be unlucky.

I still don’t use the kick down. Damn man I hate that for you, hopefully your motor is good and you just need a hub

Kickdown as in downshift?
@f80_Trevor
4 ай бұрын
@@dedan2 kinda but not exactly. Kick down is when you press the pedal all the way to the floor and the car drops like 2 gears. Not good on these cars, I don’t even do it with a pinned crankhub. I’ve only done it once and it felt like something definitely should’ve broken lol

The reason it spins is Because people like you not to be a dick what so ever use the kick down mode like that. in the first place even if the car didn’t have a hub issue is bad for the car. Generally bad for it . Kick downs from 7 gear to second gear is the main issue why people spin it or heavy load from a pull and letting off cause it to spin but the main culprit is the kick down
@f80_Trevor

@@marcosmarquez2926 exactly. I still don’t use it. Feels like more than just hub could spin. Feels like you’re gonna throw a rod doing the kick down

Honestly these comments are making me a little nervous. Thank god my 2018 M3 DCT has zero issues what so ever. I use kickdown quite often especially when driving in D3. In automatic D3 the kickdown is brutal and can drop from 7 to 3 which I do agree is a little crazy however this is how the car was engineered which is why this annoys me. All I have is a EQ midpipe and intakes. Planning on getting the M4 GTS transmission tune for smoother driving, hopefully that wont increase the chance of spinning my crank hub. Also I would assume manually dropping 3-4 gears slowly is a lot safer...

I just truly wouldn’t use the kick down function. I drove my car for 6 months before getting the crankhub done and had plenty of fun with it no problem. Never used the kick down though because I’ve always heard that’s what does it

for reference, im getting a MANUAL f80 (statistically less likely to spin the hub than dct) within the next two months and within 3 months of ownership I will be taking my car in to have the hub done. I don't even own the car just yet and after countless hours of research, the crankhub spinning is a tossup. And I'd rather not leave it to chance.

No need to use kickdown unless Godzilla is behind you or something😂
