Josefine has lived with emetophobia for as long as she can remember, surrounded by her mum, dad, sister and brother and even her grandmother, who she describes as all having the the limiting beliefs, thinking styles and behaviours similar to the phobia. “They all have unhelpful thinking styles like obsessing, catastrophic, black and white and paranoid. They also have low self-esteem and perfectionism. I have been living with this my whole life. I also was in a Facebook group for emetophobes that affected me badly, so I decided to stop being in that group.”
Josefine had therapy from the age of 9 for her emetophobia, trying all kinds of approaches all telling her she had to live with her phobia. Discovering Thrive, she was able to see from all of the testimonials that other people have overcome emetophobia.
“My biggest limiting belief was that my phobia was caused in my childhood by a scary event at school when I started to feel sick and was too scared to tell the teacher.” With that unhelpful belief, reinforced 2-3 times every minute by herself and many hours of therapy, it was not surprising she thought she could never overcome it herself.
She ordered the book and was amazed to find that, “this book was saying the opposite: that it is actually about me and my thinking styles, not a traumatic event.
It doesn't matter what has happened to you in the past, you choose to brood or think unhelpful about something.”
“Going through The Thrive Programme was the best choice I have ever made because it has taught me so much about myself and I now feel that I have the skills and knowledge to deal with my life. I have managed to do many things now without creating anxiety. I feel that I still have to work hard on keeping up this new attitude and life style but I am confident that it will feel natural in a few weeks and I feel more powerful to deal with things now.”

------------------------
Emetophobia is the fear of vomiting/sickness: either yourself, other people, or both. Research suggests 0.1 to 8.8% percent of the population have a fear of being sick (Hout & Bouman, 2011). Emetophobia is a debilitating phobia, which significantly impacts your life: sufferers are chronically anxious and go to great lengths to avoid encountering anything sickness-related, which provides temporary relief but often results in a rollercoaster of anxiety, fear and exhaustion. Issues associated with emetophobia include: OCD, eating difficulties, anxiety-related gastric problems, phagophobia, tocophobia and more. Our goal is to raise awareness of this severe phobia and provide a solution for sufferers and their families.
You do not need to live with Emetophobia - you can COMPLETELY overcome it - just like all the people in these videos did - all the ex-emetophobes in this KZitem channel used the special Emetophobia version of The Thrive Programme to overcome their phobia. If you are emetophobic, or know someone who is, you can no doubt relate to many of the experiences people share in their testimonials. We hope this reassures you that you’re not alone, and that you do not need to live with this debilitating phobia forever.
The Thrive Programme for Emetophobia (also known as Cure your Emetophobia and Thrive) is the single most successful and predictable method for getting rid of your emetophobia. It has helped over 20,000 emetophobes around the world overcome their phobia.
You can study the programme at home by yourself with a workbook (currently being translated into a number of other languages, as well as a version for the Visually Impaired), a comprehensive online course, or be guided through with a specially-trained Thrive Programme Coach® (face to face or online). Whatever way you choose, the results are predictable, and give you the tools to overcome it, for good.
