The worst thing is Flooding in the van . Opening the rear side door and seeing you have a leak somewhere on a fitting . Water drains into the Sills. causing damage & Rot. MOT due . Main expense will be welding on the sills. Try to keep leak free check all connexions and tighten . Save you a nightmare

I’ve flooded the van a couple of times just filling up! Luckily I had the van rhino lined, so I water proof the floor. That way the water just runs out of the van. You will always get some leaks or even water dripping from the brushes or the reel on a wet day. Good tips to check connections.

Just completed my first year and I've had 2 Van's 2 pumps and a tank failure that flooded my van with 400 litres of water. Also fell over and badly cut my knee and pulled a muscle in my shoulder. Amongst various other stuff. But to be honest I've loved every bloody minute of it

it's never easy, when things go wrong they always seem to come at once, my van buggered up over the new year, failed its mot, needed loads of welding done, cost over 600 quid, two weeks later total brake failure.... another 600 quid plus, I was on the verge of scrapping it and buying a new one, that's mad money you've paid for your van to be repaired but once your invested your all in, I run off a 1000 litre tank in the back with a pump running out it to fill the drums up if needed, got a couple of trolleys too, it's not cheap stuff for all of us to run these systems, on the payment side of things I've just got a a sumup card reader, upfront fee for the reader is cheap and it only costs 8p out of every tenner and customers can pay instantly at the door with none of this we will pay via bank transfer and forget, def the best thing I ever got

Thank you 🙏 for you comment, it’s not nice when things keep going south one after the other. Well done you for driving on and not giving up. Your right there is a lot of money in running the system and van so a big investment really. I have a card reader and they do come in handy. Sounds a good set up, I work as a three now and sometimes as a 4. Use a trolly and a back pack in the van and drums like you a long side the tank. Wish I had a 1000L tank lol would save having to refill up.

Hi Chris your bang on with paying more for a van 👍. I originally set a budget of £4K and used the AA to check a van out for me. They told me do not buy it as they didn’t even class it safe enough to even test drive it! Brought my van for £8K, I got a split pipe that caused me to lose my coolant which caused the first engine trouble. You defo need a good van to keep you going. Wrapping in was not an option but I must admit that was my biggest test so far. Love your channel mate 👍

Thank you 🙏 now going through another one! Post Covid now, not been right last 3 months found out I have enlarged heart and a heart murmur! Did have fluid on the lungs to but fluid now gone. Got cardiologist scan soon so will find out more. Had to stop working doctors orders to. So I do the driving while my son & daughter do the cleaning and my wife swaps with me on my bad days. Getting the work done that’s the main thing. Will get through this and that’s why I haven’t made any videos for a while. Keep going mate through your tough times, small victories mean a lot.

Surely if your engine was repaired then it should have lasted years. You certainly paid a lot for that repair
@CrystalCleanWindows

The first repair sorted me out instead of a reconditioned engine. But it went on me 2 years later, this time it was a reconditioned engine fitted. It was a big bill that pretty much took everything I had. But the gamble paid off and I’m still cleaning windows 👍

Fingers crossed that's it i hope! I was considering it but i was looking at getting back on the road ASAP. Couldn't be bothered having to get all my hit in the van taken out and reinstalled again in another van. Plus knowing my luck i would end up with a van that has loads of problems.

Great story's, thanks for sharing. deffinatly shows how possible it is even when everything is going wrong. I'm looking into starting out and the 'what could go wrong' always plays on my mind! What would you day is an achievable day rate when things are up and running? Thanks
@CrystalCleanWindows
2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, yes things can and will go wrong but you somehow find a way out of it. If you are working on your own i would say you can earn about £150 a day max comfortably. But you will be slow to start with as you will be learning as you go. Get your work as compact as possible and you could earn more a day. Just concentrate on doing a good job, the rest follows and the word of mouth will spread. Good luck and just go for it.

My lower back is hurt pretty bad right now. Difficult to roll over in bed at night and painful to put socks on. This resulted from a 12 hour non stop day followed the next day by a hearty half day cleaning windows. What brand of van had the engine die...?
@CrystalCleanWindows
2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear about the back, it’s definitely not fun and a worry when it stops you from working. The van is a Nissan Primastar, it’s still a good van just one of those things. You just do what you have to get over things. Good luck on getting better 🤞
