After drinking alcoholically for 45 years, and now being only three years sober and clean, I've been having a hard time with fear. I've been using alcohol and drugs to deal with feelings for so long, all of my adult life, I still have trouble connecting with my feelings and naming them. This is helping so much. Thank you. Namaste 💖🙏🌈🙏🏼

Thank you beautiful Tara. You touch the real issues we all face especially now and then show a way to handle and grow from what we’re experiencing. It’s not airy fairy and let’s pretend and all be happy. Acknowledging the pain and fear I find so refreshing as lots of spiritual schools of thought encourage “not going there “. Thank you for saying it how it is. 🥰

For years I've been meditating and reconnecting with my body. I've never got rid of the feeling that there's more buried in me that i can't connect with because it's too painful. I tried resourcing this morning with you, Tara, and the tears just flowed. I saw more clearly than ever how much of my behaviour is conditioned by trauma I received when a child. Thank you so much for doing what you do.

Thank you so much for that story. I remember saying for May years that I feel so disconnected from my body. And I’ve found ways in recent years to reconnect. But I think part of me was still punishing that old me for using food to disconnect from the harshness of life. I didn’t look at it as a protective mechanism, a way to survive. And that behavior had a purpose. And that behavior has opened a doorway to the whole person I see in the mirror today. This video truly fed me today.

I think the main point of this was (or rather the small tidbit of information that is crucial to take out of this) is to nurture before contact. To do this ahead of time, rather than trying to do this after being traumatized or re-traumatized.

By talking about a “collective trauma” you’re actually sweeping under the rug those who are causing the trauma. This could be like “pump up music” for those causing trauma, because they see the effect it is having (which they get off on, plus to them it signals they are winning so might as well keep going), and they realize you’re going to paint them as victims which: 1)gives them an excuse to do what they are doing, and 2) lets them go unnoticed so they can cause more harm. This is rediculous.

This was the most powerful of all Tara’s talks to me. ".Facing Fear in a traumatized world” is so real to me now. I am very active in an organization that works to help Survivors of Gun Violence and find that I am losing faith from day to day in all my work. I am finding it really hard to open the internet news, to work with others who are also struggling to deal with their daily struggles with those who believe that more violence is preferable to no violence. Thank you so much Tara. Namaste.

Thank you Tara Brach for that wonderful talk. I am truly grateful that I found you 6 years ago. Your kindness and loving presence has helped me rediscover myself through your meditations and talks. I am 52 and was raised in a very toxic environment where my mother and brother traumatised me in their own unique ways. Over the years I have made my world so tiny by controlling every area where I felt fear well up, I’m also an over eater and up to 5 weeks ago was a smoker also. I live alone and my greatest fear was to fall sick and be on my own. Covid has definitely put a spin on things, I have sat many times over the last 2 years ( mainly in the early hours of the morning ) practicing RAIN when fear has come up. Sometimes just the fear of feeling the fear come up has been frightening but because of listening to you I have been able to sit and allow and then nurture the fear. I think I am now awakening but in order to fully awaken to the trance of fear I need to surrender and allow the really deep seated fear to come up, be present with it. I want to grow spiritually and I’m so tired of spinning all the plates in my life to try to keep me safe when all they’ve done is imprison me. I feel that it will only be a matter of time before I too will be trying to sit with what your client Dana went through. Thank you for helping me so much over the years. 🙏🏻❤️ Keep safe and sending much love Lou X

Thank you. You give me the sense that there are still angels out there in my space -in the true sense of the word. Living with fear so pervades my daily thoughts. It totally controls my daily life and behavior. And has for so many years that I don’t know who I am. However, maybe there is a resource presence out there I can find and welcome. Accept. Somewhere out there and give them a chance. trust that maybe this time I will believe.
