Thank you Susan! Your ideas are wonderful. I share them with my grade group. I especially love your games. Center ideas and/or games have always been a struggle for me. I’m implementing many of your games and my 1st graders love them!

I got an old version of Triominoes at Good Will and the students use the 3 numbers to make basic addition/subtraction problems and solve.

I was looking for a video for how to build addition & subtraction fact fluency as I just started the new year with Third graders and several can't add or subtract single digits. Those who can, have trouble with 2-digit addition/subtraction. I have to remember these students lost classroom instruction in kinder and first grade due to Covid. I've never had a class with so many struggling students. I'll definitely look into your resources! Do you have any for Second grade?

Recently, I was watching some of your videos and you mentioned doing something called, "Make 11". I was hoping to use this, but cannot find which video I saw it on. Help, please.

How to make them memorize math number parts/ facts

Question? My daughter is 3 yrs old and she knows her numbers from 1-20 by sight, verbal, and matching. I've started addition with her with the numbers she knows (1-20) should I just focus on the addition part or should I also incorporate subtraction as well? So far she can add 1-5 so that's what we been focusing on then we will gradually add more once she can master 1-5.

I know this is a year later and you probably have an answer but here's my ten pence, stick with addition as subtraction will come naturally. I started with number bonds but then moved to part part whole number facts. A good way to do this is draw a triangle with the biggest number at the top say 10 and then write two numbers that make 10 underneath so 10 6 4 Now here are the number facts of those numbers 6 + 4 = 10 4 + 6 = 10 10 - 4 = 6 10 - 6 = 4 As your daughter looks at the triangle she'll see how when two are in the equation she's left with the other. Another way to do subtraction through addition is with 10 frames. Use the 10 frames to see what's missing so if we put 6 dots in what's missing 4 is missing so if we take 4 from 10 it's 6. My son was TERRIFIED of subtraction to the point he couldn't and wouldn't do it at school. One day at home of simply doing addition maths facts and he was stunned at how simple it is. Obviously do what works for you but I find that addition is the fundamental because from it you easily learn subtraction and multiplication.

@The Fakey Cake Maker thank you for your response. She's now 4. We do the triangle method. She uses Zearn in which she learned that method from. We do the what's missing part as well. We use Mathseeds as well. Yes, because with the addition part, she's learning to count by 2s and 5s with a sprinkle of multiplication.
