the more you need to be told, the lower your efficiency in getting stuff done having someone watching and taking notes from chat and alerting nerfrums on it means that the small mistakes can be fixed in a timely manner. we're humans, not robots, it's normal for some stuff to be off sometimes and having someone to remind you of it in a timely manner makes it much better. But again - the more you need this kind of help, the worse your efficiency is Honestly I don't think having someone watching over and reminding you of stuff would invalidate anything - as I mentioned, there's time loss at any point where you make a mistake or when you forget what you're supposed to do, but having someone help correct the small stuff that sometimes happens is still great. I don't see why a run would be invalidated by that though imagine you get someone like nefrums telling you what to do at every step, continuously. you think you'd beat his time? execution would suffer greatly if you don't know what you're doing yourself

What’s cool about Factorio speed runs is that even though a basic player as myself is nowhere close to the designing preparation or building speed as an expert, you get tons of little useful tips from watching the pros play. I’m still wondering how you do some of the things you do though. For example sometimes it seems like you’re able to switch placing blocks without selecting them in your menus, like going from normal pipes to underground pipes or stuff like that...

@anatoliyzhestov3915

@@aeosynth of course. but this does not remove the question of what will take more time, a delay for the production of the minimum required number of conveyors or time for running around with inventory filled with coal and scattering it among the furnaces and miners. it just needs to be calculated instead of guessing.
@aeosynth
6 ай бұрын
@@anatoliyzhestov3915 that's true, why don't you test it? also belts alone don't do anything, you need inserters to put things both on and off the belt, and unless you use burner inserters you need to run power lines too.

I am very curious as to how many hours of Factorio you got of gameplay before you obtained this kind of skill level? I am totally new to this kind of game genre. I always thought these type of building sims would be something I would utterly hate, yet I am amazed that Factorio is one of my all time favorite games, and am still barely in the tutorial with 17 hours LOL. So you beating this game in under 3 hours is something truly amazing.
@lukasgroot

I also did the tutorial in about that time lol. You get better over time though, I'm guessing Nefrums has about 4, 5, 6k hours in. To bad he doesn't reply on here much, might try asking it on Twitch, I'm curious too.

@@lukasgroot Thanks for the reply. Believe it or not I am kind of new to KZitem posting and it seems that not many KZitemrs answer back. So I appreciate your taking the time. i think it also matter how you play, you can have 1k+ but focus different stuff , speedrunning is another activity. You dont really need know everything in game, but you need be always trieing to go for fastest time.
@SincoolKira
3 ай бұрын
It's pretty much amassing knowledge (mainly knowing what each thing needs and how to build production for it, how much you need etc, you get to know this stuff from before you even start researching it, so you can be ahead on your build) and practicing to make execution speedier and more flawless (while everyone will amass knowledge about the game with time and start to learn how to build stuff and what each thing needs, working on execution is specific to speedrunning, both for planning the layout and keeping track of each thing nonstop and for being fast enough about the execution) as someone else mentioned, playstyle is important as well. if you want to go for a speedrun, you have to focus on different things than if you want to , say, design and make a megabase.
