How fun. Having a bunch of friends around talking shop. Reminds me of high school.

Thanks. When I shot that video, early in the year, I had just been introduced to this group. Over the last few months I have gotten to know them better, and they have become friends of mine. They are a great group of guys.

Todays generation will never understand this tradition that goes back to the 60s and 70s. Many days, pulling engines with chains and trees, and even a timing light was rare. It's more of a high school reunion in this pic, even if they didn't know each other.

Always have the air filter and cover fitted before firing it up. If the engine were to backfire, you will quite possibly have a fire to deal with. I'm talking from a "nasty experience".
@drd1924
Жыл бұрын
great advice, especially if youre squirtin gas into the carb...better to have the air filter catch fire, then crank it to create a down draft and suck it back in....than to have your plug wires and electrical burn.

No kidding. I've been wanting to make a list of things unique to my life. Bang on a starter with a hammer or bump starting a stick shift but your the one with your butt on the rear bumper. The joy of a dirt clod exploding on a friends head, was always a favorite.

Yes I too was surprised by the amount of people involved. I’ve been getting to know them and they are a very active, supportive, and enthusiastic group. I start my build next month and it is great to know I have new found friends, with lots of experience, to reach out to.

Wow, what an exceptional build. A lot of really nice detail work. Is that the garage it was assembled in ? I'm struggling with attempting to build one of these in a similar size garage or build a new one to work in. Also, what are the stainless open elbows just above the header collector ?

Beautiful bills however, there is one issue that needs to be addressed. The right front tire is the wrong tire. The tread is going the wrong direction. It’s pumping water into the middle not out. Sorry.

Factory Five Builders Group?!?!? I dint know there WAS such a thing. Are there ones in OTHER cities???
@007_jg8
Жыл бұрын
It is a group of about 30 people in the Sacramento area - all on Facebook messenger. Very tight knit group who are always helping each other out. I only joined a few months ago. I expect there are similar groups in other cities or regions. The Factory Five Forum probably has a list, or you could join the forum and ask. The forum is another great resource.

Why do you still build carbureted engines? 😳
@007_jg8
Жыл бұрын
Many reasons. The power from carbs is good. The authenticity. The challenge. The smell - you get a smell of gas from carbs which takes me back to when I was kid riding in the back of my dad's e-type. I have 4 twin down draft webers for my 302 - they look fantastic.
