In this video I attempt to fabricate a shifter ring mounting plate to mount a Billet Specialties Shifter Ring into my 1971 Camaro project car. I begin by measuring the shifter hole in the transmission tunnel, measuring the shifter, and then transferring those measurements over to poster paper. I draw a few different iterations before committing to a final design. Once I have the design, I transfer it over to 3/16 plate steel and cut it out using the Jegs plasma cutter. I then use a combination of transfer punches and center punches to mark the holes. I then drill the holes using a hand held drill. Finally I use a tap to thread the holes for the machine screws.
