Love this plane as well as the video....thank you for no music. I would like to know how much would it cost to redo the interior/exterior and of course upgrade the avionics .( I know thats a loaded question as you can spent as much as you want) but just a general estimate !!! Plus the price of the plane of course !!!! Thank you very much !!

Solid late model Merlins can be had for anywhere in the 500-650k range. Avionics largely depends on what is in your wish list. But we did a complete refit in 2018 cutting an entirely new panel and installing a Garmin G600Txi, dual GTN 750s, remote GTX 345s for ADS-B In/out, L3 standby attitude, a new Garmin radar and with equipment and labor it was $137k. The last paint job we did in 2019 was $40k, the complete interior refit including cabinetry was close to $80k.

Woooww Thank you so much for your quick reply and the break down of all the items mentioned. So basically you could have a top notch Merlin for little less than a Million...Again THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR INPUT !!!!!!!!!!

Love the sound of the Garretts...much better than a PT6

I flew in a Conquest II with similar Garrett engines. I think the PT6 is much quieter which is why theyre used on a lot of other turboprops (TBM, Pilatus, Beechcraft, Piaggio). Nonetheless a cool plane. Are they reliable? They seem to be so cheap. Parts must be hard to find.

Could you post some flight planning data? I’d be interested to know the available range with 8 pax.

Alpenglow123 with 8 180lb paxs and 200lbs of luggage I can carry 2760lbs of fuel. That would give me a range of 1250nm or around 1000nm with reserves.

@@jamessiragusa6194 I guess that is with -10 engines (IIIA). What is optimum altitude? Do you find spare parts to be difficult to find?

alpenglow123 yes, this one has -10UAs. I typically operate between FL200-280 depending on the ride and winds, the mid 20’s are its butter zone. I’ve operated a bunch of Merlins for the last 11 years. Every model of Merlin (III, IIIB, IIIC, IVA, IVC, and the Fairchild 300) and I’ve never experienced any problem or extended amount of downtime sourcing parts. The dispatch reliability has been very good, I think there’s been 3-4 times in the last 11 years I’ve had to shelve a flight because of a squawk.

@@jamessiragusa6194 When I hit the lottery first thing I'll get is a IIIC/300. Fast, long range, and I dare say, pretty. You can get a nosebleed way up there on that landing gear.

I fly the only 300 still based in the US. Great airplane. The winglets add to the sex appeal. Aside from the winglets the ailerons are different on the 300 too. They added a fatter trailing edge that made the controls a little lighter in roll and a bit more responsive. I’ll post some video of flying the 300 soon.
