Hundreds of people joined a rally in Chingford in support of Faiza Shaheen, the former Labour parliamentary candidate who was deselected and told she cannot run two days ago by the UK Labour Party.
Labour deselected Faiza Shaheen as a candidate for the marginal London seat of Chingford and Woodford Green over a series of social media posts which expressed support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS), praised former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, and backed candidates running for the Green Party, among other issues, Middle East Eye has been told.
At the rally, Shaheen told the crowd she struggles to see a future for herself in Labour and suggested she is contemplating running as an independent candidate. Her campaign manager expressed anger and disappointment with Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer.
