Even just your example shots are miles better than anyone on KZitem put out. You're just a step above everyone else on this platform while you may not have the subscribers (yet) just thought I'd let you know. Your videos are very inspiring to me, just wanted to let you know and if in the future I happen to pursue a career in making films you will have played a role in it. So, I thank you for making them. Cheers! 👌

Love your videos, very inspiring and excellent tutorials! I too love Helios lenses, I own a 110mm prime, so will try that trick, thank you! Great call on MFlare 2, I just used Redgiant Universe knoll light factory ez for a music video shoot - that has decent ana-flares in it too, but it's slow work manually animating keyframes. FCPX obvs really lacks any sort built in tracking, unless you use 3rd party, but loving how it's included in MFlare2!

Yeah the tracking is really great with mflare 2. And the automatic dimming when the flare is occluded. I've bought a lot of flare plugins that I ended up never using but this one is actually useful.

a7rii is great but doesn't solve enough problems to warrant an upgrade from a7sii for me. A7riii is worse in low light, has aliasing in full frame 4k, and from what I've heard the 1080p60 isn't very good either. However it has great autofocus and bigger battery.

Hey brandon, what's your opinion on the Sony SEL50F18 50mm f/1.8 Lens, and how do you think it compares to the Sony SEL35F18 35mm f/1.8 Prime lens?
@BrandonLiUnscripted
7 жыл бұрын
They're both fine, they don't have any special qualities that make them outstanding. They're sharp enough for 4k I think. If you want a portrait lens get 50mm. If you want a more all-purpose lens get 35mm.

Has anyone figured out if it's possible to do these with wider angle lenses? I've seen that Vid-atlantic's cinemorph mod was able to accomplish the anamorphic look for the Sigma 18-35 (through out the entire zoom range) by putting the filter at the back element, but I can't seem to accomplish the same effect with my Sigma 16mm 1.4 for e mount. Part of me suspects the extra flange distance on canon helps the modded iris work effectively for the cinemorph as it's just far enough to project the oval bokeh. Attempting the same on mirrorless i've found that there's either heavy vignetting or the shape of the bokeh doesn't change. It's frustrating because all these mods suggest using more telephoto-style lenses, which works against the appeal of having a wide fov but shallow dof that actual anamorphic has. I'd love to hear suggestions or tips if anyone has tried something similar.
@kuunami

I think the problem is that 16mm is too wide for the filter.

you could try getting an anamorphic projection lens. they are cheaper. Got one for like 100$ on Ebay but of course its not perfect. However they provide the real effect
@BrandonLiUnscripted

The distortion on projector lenses has always seemed really bizarre to me. Maybe there's a certain way to use them to produce a more natural look.
@luca_hc_gruber
7 жыл бұрын
Brandon Li yes its not really easy to use them. You need a pretty long focal lenght to eliminate vignetting (~135mm of FF) and close up filters to focus...they provide the real squeeze though. So you don't loose resolution compared to just using black bars (technically)
@KelcyFanton
