Only had about 2.5 hours to fish for tautog aka blackfish on this crisp autumn morning in the Long Island Sound (NY side - western region) so I started shallow but soon realized it wasn't happening and moved deeper. The action was good and the blackfish were hungry even with the slacked out tide, so it made for a very enjoyable light tackle session on the kayak. Water temps are cooler this year than last so it will be interesting to see how this season pans out. Tidal coefficient was 83 in the morning
