Barry Foster was outstanding as Kaiser Wilhelm II. He perfectly captures Wilhelm's bombastic and egomaniac style. Czar Alexander II of Russia once said that he detested the young Kaiser for his "aggressive amiability". Historian SLA Marshall describes Wilhelm as "a small child, who was asked to stomp around in giant's boots". Yet at the same time, he was a deeply sensitive and insecure person. Foster captures all of the complexities of the man in his performance.

The mom didn’t approve of Wilhelm do to his disability, which at the time was shameful. Wilhelm became distant with his mother as a result

I liked his performance overall but yeah, it is a British production made in a time where the memory of WW1 was still strong, and you can tell.
