We do our best work training to avoid those situations but even the most skilled pilots make mistakes that will cost them their lives. Sorry for your loss, RIP 🙏

Looks like an amazing hobby. What they don’t tell you is that there is often long waiting times to get the pull up plane available. I know one in my paragliding club that gave it up because of that. Now, with paragliding, he takes off whenever he wants. That doesn’t take away the fact that it’s an amazing flying form, and the video speaks for itself! ❤

When I was 6 years old I was a fortunate passenger on a glider. The pilot sat behind me. It was a lifetime joyful experience riding in that plane. Soo cool 🙂 If you get the opportunity to be a passenger do it! You will never forget it ❤

How many flights, hours and distance last year? How many countries? How many different glider types?

Good question - about 280 h - more than 25000 km - started in 6 different countries, 3 continents - 8 different glider types, 4 new for me

It’s not all about epic flights , most of the time is spent helping out on a cold airfield with the odd flight for yourself , if your lucky.

Often to start it can be like that, as any ATC cadet will testify. However as you work your way into this world and you become better at it you experience many extrodinary sights and situations. Even after 20 years I still ind myself , while driving home after a days flying , asking myself "did all that really happen?"

@@julianday Me too! I'm not the worlds best pilot but even I have had thermalling flights on days when it has not gone above -2C. With some good coaching you will be surprised at what you can extract from a plain day!
