@@aorakis5795 it gives the game the option to be fully co-op - as the competetive aspect was rather weirdly implemented in the original (one person reveals a quest card, another on the other side of the map could instantly go and fulfill the quest for own benefits). The game being co-op kinda fixes those problems (even if it restricts what is allowed to be done during a single playthrough - in the co-op mode, players are already starting basically as permanently loyal to one of the factions, which means that the quest-line for the opposing faction is inaccessible)

To get this just out of the way as quickly as possible If you want to play this game competitively, or race to see who can win in the quickest or most efficient manor, I don't think you will enjoy this game. [As a note, I've only played this once, but have it set up for another game today] I won't spoil the details of my first game, but I will say that it was an incredibly experience. I sat down with three other people, the max amount of players, and I was the only one who had read the rules. Within twenty minutes, everyone had a firm grasp on what to do, and what they could do, this game teaches very well. Secondly, all three of these people aren't overly fond of board games, and are usually "eh" at best, when playing them, that changed totally with our first game of Fallout. Within half an hour, we were all so insanely invested in this war between the Institute and the Railroad, that any concern over our own victory was long gone, and we became totally entranced by this games ability to tell a fantastic story. At the end of our game, we actually rushed past a lot of the game itself, not touching the perk cards, barely touching the shop itself, basically we hardly explored the actual game and it's features. And we had the BEST TIME of any board game we have ever had, and the three people who played with me are begging to come play again. Our next game will be a lot slower, we'll explore the world and go more into depth with some of the side quests and such. As a fallout fan, the theme of this game is flawless. I could gush on and on about this game, but I'll end it here, I am almost certain I'll be buying the expansion soon, and playing many more games of this, I will even try singleplayer at some point. [Final note] after watching a lot of the Fallout reviews on youtube, I've come to the conclusion that you shouldn't play this game competitively, and you should probably institute a house rule about not stealing quests from people unless they are okay with it. [this game seems to function muuuch better as more of a Co-op game than an competitive game] Thanks for reading this absurdly large wall of text. If you're a fan of the FO theme, give this game a go!

With Atomic Bonds, this is a good co-op game. Its best if you have a group who are fans of the video game series as they will get the most out of it. The goals replacing the agenda cards fixes one of the games biggest flaws and everyone working together fixes the whole "I got a quest on the other side of the board and another player standing next to it finished it!' problem. Ooh and camps for fast travel. Basically, Atomic Bonds is a must and add in New California for the extra cards and map tiles.

This pretty much matches my feelings entirely. I like the majority of the systems present in fallout. The leveling up is brilliant, the SPECIAL usage is easy to learn but effective, and the quests are cool. But the overall experience just falls flat. I don't enjoy the endless enemy spawn systems or the sameness of a two faction war for every game. Despite actually loving most of the game, I find myself playing "Lesser" games because the final experience just feels better.

How do you think this compare to 'Waste Knights'? I am super on the fence on getting one or another, or maybe both if they could co-exist. I just don't know how well the story choices and flavor text are on Fallout with those cards, if the narrative is way too simple or not.. I just want a coherent branching narrative where we can change the route of the game and what happens is different depending on our choices, or depending on the tests we passed or failed. I THINK 'Waste Knights' do that very well from what I saw, but I cannot get a grasp on Fallout on that aspect.

I prefer this to Waste Knights. Waste Knights is really on rails - you basically just progress from point A to B under the threat of a strict timer. I like this game a lot. I love Fallout and have since the first PC game. But yeah, it took work. Gotta houserule this game, because it was simply designed wrong. There is no other way to say it. There were design decisions made that were simply wrong. Even their base premise, making the core game a competitive experience where players steal quests from each other to "win" the game, is absolutely flawed. It's so strange that this game was designed the way it was. I have no misgivings about nudging the rules around all over the place in order to get some enjoyment out of my investment. Shouldn't have to, but if you do, it can be a decent Fallout experience.
