Love this version so much. My heart melts at the looks Sly gives his sister throughout - especially at 0:44. You can tell they really like each other and enjoy making music together. All of us who have sisters are so lucky! I love my two sisters (one older one twin) and we love each other's company so much. Beautiful song by a truly gifted and visionary writer and performer.

@Corey Campbell Wrong. You should do YOUR research, buddy. If you can’t be bothered, I’ll do it for you and hold your hand through it. Whilst it’s true that the band broke up and Sly worked on “There’s A Riot Goin’ On” himself mostly, he brought in session guys when he needed to, and “Family Affair” was one of those instances….as he did so on other tracks. This isn’t difficult to verify.

nobody feels beats like Sly, love that shit 2:20 on, Magic. And this song is about relationships, the first being A mothers love for her kids one wants to learn (good kid) and the other you just want to burn (bad kid) Mom lOVES all of them, cause its in the blood, (again back to relationshhips) bloods thicker than the mud (sticking together in spite of) and then lastly about New relatiionships between a couple newlywed a year ago, still checking each other out, (the couple with problems trying to work through them). Sly is at least from 68' to 76 one of the most prolific and profound song writers of our time.

My mother gave me all my Dads old 45’s. They sat for YEARS in the little red cardboard case from his youth. He was born in 1943. Today I played this song among others on a record player I decided to buy with my Christmas money. The last time the records were played was likely when we had a counsel stereo/ radio in my childhood living room sometime in the 70’s or early 80’s. The record hasn’t been touched since but sounded clear and clean with that beloved vinyl sound!! Chose this one first to play because it IS a Family Affair. The second one I played was Hey Paula, which also sounded amazeballs. Loving the trend back to vinyl!! Missing my Dad.

Well .. 1st I have to say Sly is a great artist. His Funk is un-matched. MJ and Prince .. at least for me not in the same league. Sly broke ground and did not have just one hit. His songs all had their own appreciation. Plus this was raw funk. The band actually played these songs. Did not use studio tricks to get there sounds. I an not gonna slam his business decisions.
