They used to be better before the writers took the dislikes the marriage joke too far. For everyone honestly. Joe used to be a really cool albeit crippled guy who wasn’t really effected by his handicap, then they made him more and more pathetic about being crippled, and made Bonnie slowly more and more a bitch. Family Guy used to have a healthy family!

Living with parapalegic is very hard. The amount of care and help they need, especially with intimate and messy aspects is huge. Doing it year after year can wear off most people. Plus it's one thing when you care for senior, since you always think to your shame that this won't last very long. But Joe is a young guy, he may even outlive her. She stuck with him forever.

@@y2kblackout The characters in family guy are, I think, deliberately inconsistent. Sometimes Joe's family life is happy, sometimes it is miserable. Sometimes he is a depiction of what cops should behave like, sometimes he is a depiction of how they really are. I am not a huge fan of the show, but I think the idea is that he is whatever kind of character the show needs him to be. In this, he is kinda both. His words are definitely more appropriate than his conduct here.

Eh, they were out of their county. If they attacked the officers in that county, they would be in massive trouble and could be sentenced to life in prison along with their corruption being revealed, giving them a lot of jail time or even the death penalty. Giving up was objectively their best choice. Though, Joe easily violated the law by shooting an unarmed man.

This scene was perfection from start to finish. Joe started breaking the sheriff's car's windshield and headlight just like he did to their car, and then he shot him non-fatally as payback for all the times they were shot at, and then he gave him that whole speech about police ethics to hammer in the point that with great power comes great responsibility, and you should never abuse it for your own gain or for fun like he was doing. After all this time, it finally makes sense to me.
