I appreciate the other things they did to make this episode stand out like not having a single cutaway gag and not having any background music of any kind. It makes it so the episode has to completely stand entirely on its own writing without any additional elements to add to it and I personally like the overall theme of the story even with the Poop jokes and stuff. I think it shows a great dynamic between the argumentative and polarizing side of the relationship with the comedy bit in the first half and then the second half shows more of the intimate closeness and personal side of their relationship about having to open up about real heartfelt issues and personal mental struggles that are not talked about very often in the show on a serious level

I feel the shorter version of this episode is better ... but yeah, it's still not good. At least it was an attempt at something different, but it just didn't work for a number of reasons. I do like the bit where the gun goes off and they cower under the table, apologise and just see the bullet ping off every surface for a while. If it wrapped up there or just after, I think the episode would have been a bit better ... but they argue again and do the same thing for another 10 minutes ... And oh man, the scene where Pearl dies, and Peter lets go of the birds ... that hits me every time. Not a lot of shows do that, but Family Guy did it so right here. Such a beautiful moment and it does bring me to tears each time. The only other moment in a cartoon to do that was when Morty breaks up with Planetina. Only as I think a lot of guys have gone through a hard break-up, usually the first, and that hits hard for me to. But yeah, drama is Family Guy is an odd one. Great video again! You need more subs with the content you've produced!

Time to play the "Essay game" Is this A: a pretentious over analysis finding meaning (or lack of meaning) devoid of all context. Or will this be a casual peice resolving the message and tone rather than micromanaging the script. So far it's both, time will tell as it's still early.

I'm one of the people who quite enjoy this episode, but even then, you actually bring up great points, in fact, my enjoyment of the episode comes from its uniqueness in the context of the show I also think it's worth noting that this episode came out in one of the peaks in Seth MacFarlane career, in which he became a bit more pretentious then his abilities could allow him to maintain, at this time he'd be constantly giving interviews about his voice-acting, singing and writing, so an episode that's precisely just him talking to himself about life and death is very likely a consequence of that period
