I'm sorry about so many people losing their homes up there in fire country. But didn't they realize as they were moving in that they were about to begin living in a target zone? It's simply a matter of time. If it's not burning now it will be in the future.

So no one should ever live by trees? You know Flagstaff was built in the largest ponderosa pine forest in the world, right? And no, just because you live by trees, does not mean someday your house is going to burn down. Actually my friend who lost his house this week had very few trees around his neighborhood. And yet his house burned down. I lived at the base of Mount Elden for 20 years with my family, and our house was never in danger of burning down and we had trees all around us. Logic much?

@@heidibrown2357 Your statement is spot on. I’m from Flagstaff, and I don’t remember fires like this ever growing up there. It’s due to global warming and people starting them sometimes intentionally. I’m baffled hearing why did people build there? Why did they build in Colorado, or other places with tons of trees? Flagstaff is not a desert and I’m tired of hearing that online. It’s 7ft elevation, and normally gets more snow than most places in the states.
