Thanks for all the tips! We just flew with our twin 2yr olds, but a much shorter flight. Here's what we learned: Prep ahead of time was EVERYTHING! We started reading books many weeks ahead of time. The girls each packed their own small carryon bags with some activities (small coloring book and crayons, water wow books, push pop toys, a small favorite book, window clings) and I set them aside 2wks before we left . I also had a bag with other stuff (some new, some old, but pulled in advance to seemed "new" again)- stickers, highlights magazines, magnetic pads, snacks including chewy things specifically for the descent fruit snacks, mini marshmallows, and dumbdumb suckers. We brought our super simple fold up wagon (costco) and gate checked it- lifesaver for the long walk through the airport. Since we had a short flight we took a chance and didn't use pullups, went to the bathroom just before boarding, on the plane midflight and again after landing. One thing we didn't prep for but wish we had, was the size of the airplane bathroom and the noise/sounds they'd hear in there, esp how the light is off until you lock the door behind you- suuper scary right. We also brought a few airplane books with us and compared the books to what we were doing to help remind us what would happen next. Other helpful tip- give the kids a heads up shortly before you land & what it will feel like. I did this with one twin, huz did not with the other and she freaked for a few min when we bounced on the ground. Hope any of that is helpful :)

We do lots of long road trips to camp and hike so we’ve done a 16 hour drive when our oldest was 7 months.

I’ve been trying to find a way back to my home in SC while my husband is deployed. We’re in CA right now and I really don’t think it’s possible for myself to do it with a 3 month old, 2 year, our dog and luggage, car seats, and everything else.

Yeah, it's a lot traveling with little ones especially alone! I hope you're able to find a way back home soon.
