The "day in a life of a teen mom" vlogs piss me off. I really do think they're encouraging teen pregnancy because they never talk about the difficulties. They all make it seem as if raising a whole human being is easy peesey lemon squeezey.

jalapeno1119 Thank you! I was a teen mom (my oldest daughter was born right after I graduated high school). While I would never change it for the world, my husband and I both worked our butts off to build a good life for our daughter. It was hard seeing other teens my age going out and having fun and starting college, living in dorms, etc., while I was staying up all night with my baby and screaming at my husband because we couldn’t make the pay check stretch through the month. It was all 100% worth it for me, since I’m still with my high school sweetheart and we’ve now also got four beautiful sons and we’ve built an amazing life. But when I see that life being romanticized as being super fun and ‘goals’. Idk, just very weird to me.

I saw a video the other day of a girl that's 17 and pregnant with her third child The scary part is that 99 percent of the comments, teenagers, were praising her. I saw at least 10 comments of girls saying their ages (14-16) expressing that they were soooooo excited because they were pregnant. It's scary to see that these young girls idolize teen pregnancy and think is a walk in the park. I blame the parents too. At 14, all the computer access that I had was using my dad's computer in his office.....while supervised. I know times have changed. But most parents are not aware of wtf their children do with all the easy access to technology

I think instead videos like that. They should do a whole day comparing a girls/women's life having a kid or being pregnant or not. It will be an eye-opener and show the stark comparison those videos don't like money, doctor visits, and etc.

Maybe the videos were better a few years back, because I remember being a little obsessed with a few teen mom vlogging channels when I was a teen myself. Pretty much all of the videos I watched the girls tried to seem put together and on top of their game but there was like always a cut where they came back and explained that baby just screamed for 90minutes or they got super emotional and had to pick up another day or something. It never really seemed glamorous or easy, though the girls did always have their or boyfriend's parents to help out which I know often isn't the case. Odd that time would've changed that.

That's actually so upsetting. I have a very vivid memory of crying over stuff that wasn't that bad because my mom made mountains out of slight inconveniences (not directed towards me - she'd just actually be a little too stressed out and didn't realize I only had her as a reference in those exact moments), so I can't imagine the confusion and stress these kids go through by having their parents constantly pretend that very scary things are happening to them. Unless they're warned in advance, how can they tell when it's true and when it's not?
@vihaze6725

There are two kinds of family vloggers, I think. The ones that exploit their kids to the hilt and the ones who seem like they're just having a bit of fun. You can tell the difference by watching the videos and seeing who it's focused on. There are channels like ThisGatheredNest where it mostly features their mom and talks about parenting and advocates for adoption etc and doesn't divulge her kids stories or their private information, and then there are channels like those SlyFox people where it's all about exploiting the kids to make a quick buck.

I nannied an 8 year old boy last summer and he watched a lot of KZitem. It was the situation where whenever no one else could entertain him (which was a lot), they would just hand him his tablet and he would watch pretty much unfiltered KZitem. Well one early morning (he got dropped off at my house at 4:45am) he couldn't go back to sleep again because he'd had nightmares from a video that he had watched. From what he described it sounded a lot like the kind of content that is directed at kids and shouldn't be; an overhyped creepy video about some entity trying to break into the car that people were in filming. He was very convinced that it was real. I tried to explain stuff like "they wouldn't film it like that if it was real, that isn't real" but kids at that age and younger just don't have the skills to discern what is genuine. They are willing to believe what anyone tells them, and that makes me really worry about what they're going to grow up believing when they're raised on this kind of content.

My kids love family vloggers, we talk often about the reality of those videos and the how to treat them like any TV show or movie. Like kids know pepper pig or captain marvel aren't really real but these videos are real people doing fun looking stuff, so we discuss the role of acting and recording only the things that those filming thinks will get clicks. My daughter, who is 8, wants to start her own channel which I let her roleplay and practise at, she's even got a green screen and cheap camera, but she understands that she has to wait til she's older before doing anything public, and we discuss the basic legalities (such as consent, confidentiality and social awareness). I can't stop em vlogging when they're 18 but can atleast teach them safe ways to do so tween now and then. Not too dissimilar to how kids role play at mummy or daddy, police man or nurse.

I also recommend the busby family, they have a tlc show but I really enjoy blogs cus they don’t shove their kids infront of a camera for views but rather they give advice and show ups and downs of parenting 6 girls. Both theese channels are good cus they are clearly aimed at other parents or teen moms rather than to be kids entertainment

When I become a family vlogger, here’s what I’m going to do. First, I’ll make sure me or my husband are holding the camera so we have control over what we post, and I’ll record everything starting form when our kids first come home with us. Then, during the editing process when they’re around 3 to 5 (old enough understand what’s going on), I’ll sit down with the kids and ask them if it’s okay or not okay to upload something, like embarrassing baby videos or even at that age when they’re older. If not, then we’ll leave it for family, and if they don’t even want _family_ to see that, it’ll be deleted forever. The only reason I want to make family vlogs would probably be a way to share stuff with family and friends if they can’t come directly to our house and watch the video themselves. That and it’s super fun to edit vlogs, too!

Listen on the one hand: I grew up in the 90s and early 2000s and I have to say: children shows (especially in Europe) were scary as hell. Sometimes it would even be scarier now watching it as an adult but as a kid you just have no idea what you're watching (parental guidance or not: you'd come in contact with it someway or another if you watched TV as a kid). So the "scary" themes in these videos is something I don't really have a problem with. Are they being lied to? Yeah. But it is meant to be entertainment? Also yes. I'm sure after a few years they can definitely see the difference between reality and fantasy, as we all had to learn at some point. What I however do have a problem with is exploiting these kids for content. THEY are the ones being brought into situations that seem way too real for them, and might actually be traumatizing. As a parent it's already bad enough you have lie to your children about holidays and how death or sex or whatever works. Let alone making them believe you coupling them or someone breaking into your house is REAL. That's fucked up.

For the people in the United States to see, on every Sunday night. No, none of my family ever submitted a video to FHV television. We did watched it. Not that KZitem was really around when I was a kid but I can imagine I would have liked watching family vlogs because as a teenager I watched vlogs because I was lonely. However as a 20 year old I think family is creepy, especially the examples of parents almost sexualising their small kids online. I think when it was parents sharing their tips and struggles and experiences, that was good because most of those videos only included minimal or no footage of their children but I think, from what I've seen, most family vloggers range from damaging their children mentally by not letting them have a childhood to full on abuse.

Far less regulation of working conditions, with nobody protecting the child performers or insisting that a portion of the revenues go to a secure account for the children later in life as required for normal child actors. With child actors they have a maximum number of hours they can work and a certain portion of their money has to be set aside in a trust fund. A lot of these kids in family vlogs are working a lot of hours, sometimes everyday, and they are not guaranteed any portion of their money. It's sad really. I have a feeling in about 5-10 years we're gonna see the consequences of children being raised in such an environment.

Family bloggers kill me. Somethings should not be filmed. In a recent Cole&Sav video they have a very serious conversation with Everleigh about the new baby. How Cole, her step father, will still love her just as much. This is very important for her to hear, she is at a sensitive age and in a sensitive position (as a step child). You could tell she was so uncomfortable with it being filmed. Somethings are too important for the world to see. Side note on the Reborn dolls, my mom works as a prek teacher and lost a son at 5 months to SIDS 32 years ago. A kid brought in a reborn doll and my mom held it, but had to put it down. She said it felt exactly like a lifeless baby and brought flash backs.

But they literally made a video about the "last moments of his life" because of course they filmed everything of these kid's lives. It was actually horrifying to see this child literally out of body in most of the clips while the mom just rambled on and ignored him. Like the daughter literally brought up he didn't look well and she just kept filming her about her coloring books instead. And then the clips after his passing she just kept shoving the camera in the kid's faces like "how's life without your brother????" it was just scary to watch tbh.

Now they're doing "mini Justin Bieber and Hayley Baldwin", where they recreate pictures of the celebrities with the kids, and they had their 11 year old daughter wearing a pregnancy bump! They're whacked. Their friends, the Johnson Family did a vlog right after the hurricane flooded Houston, with their backyard flooded, and said they "had to leave" their home. They were going to a YT convention anyway, and their backyard was just a little flooded, and they don't live in Houston. People were worried about them, and people who lived in Houston were angry because they were implying that they had been flooded out, and they never apologized or even mentioned it. And they do all these fake "Justin Bieber FaceTimes our daughter!" And it's never really him. It's just their uncle who maybe slightly resembles JB. Sorry for rambling, but it's just so good to see this addressed. You should talk about the way people worship these vloggers. If you say anything remotely negative, even constructive criticism, you get crucified by their fans. They will delete negative comments because they say they want to "spread positivity", but their fans can attack people and call them names, and curse at them, and _those_ comments stay up. It's really despicable the way these people manipulate their kids and the viewers for money.

When you won’t get the camera out of your 12 year old who just got her periods face even though she doesn’t want to be filmed, it IS child abuse. When you tell your kids their house has been broken into because they have to believe it, too, or it won’t look real, and they’re scared to death, that is child abuse! Do another internet analysis on mukbangs! I’ve read about their popularity depending on the millennial generation’s loneliness and wanting to eat dinner with someone but I also feel like part of it might have to do with our generation’s economic instability as well. Mukbangs seem to embody this baby boomer American concept of abundance that isn’t really accessible to a lot of young people living paycheck to paycheck these days

There's one family that is _purposely_ raising "another Jake Paul". They call their son "mini Jake Paul" and encourage him to act out. He's going to have problems when he gets older.

doodle squat I also think they might affect the mirror neurons or whatever brain process. You know how people love watching other people play sports or video games because they live vicariously through them? When the team wins, you feel happy as if you won. Maybe it's the same with food? You watch someone eat a lot of food and you feel full as if you ate the food?

I personally dont think it's that deep, I like watching them from my fav youtubers because it feels like you're hanging out with them! I'm not a lonely person lol, theres just something more genuine feeling about watching somebody do something so natural as eating and just having a conversation.

11:05 made me so unbelievably sad! The distress on the child's face, he is clearly very scared. As a nanny who believes in respectful child care, I'm horrified by the physiological damage these adults are doing to their kids. Manipulating children for comedic effect is never okay whether there is a camera or not! Caspian clearly isn't aware that its a joke and from his reaction I'm guessing he probably does get spanked. At that moment he thought he was going to get hit by an adult that he trusted because he was doing something he got told to do by other adults that he trusts! I've not watched any of there content outside of this video so maybe I can't judge but that clip alone is so telling.

Feel like the teen mom tv phenomenon, teenagers/young people are getting the wrong idea about how hard and expensive it is to raise a family. Crazy how life rewards some people who made really irresponsible decisions and they now live in huge houses with crazy disposable income. Most people who accidentally or purposefully get pregnant without an education, career, own place to live end up struggling and not living a luxurious life. The crazy part is that that young people who are tech savvy are also naive as to the business behind the internet. They are the ones buying the merchandise not understanding what a lucrative extra source of income that is and not being able to distinguish what a brand deal is and what products these influencers actually use. Also think there is a huge religious undertones in these videos that are no longer being kept quiet. There are so many mormon bloggers but that makes sense since mom's are usually at home and they have tons of kids which makes good content. In many ways I feel bad for some of these families. Would be hard to hit career/monetary success in your 20s and then spend your life trying to keep up that lifestyle. I see a few families who seem to be saving a ton and having a clear plan to transition out of the family vlogger industry. Same problem you see in tons of professional athletes. Some of these youtubers have fed into their popularity and think so highly of themselves and I don't get their appeal. I keep waiting for others to get sick of them but I may be waiting a long time....

@Simone Reilly Would make me happier to see a teen mom that worked hard, finished school or started their own business and made a life for themselves. Versus luck of the draw someone watching them on tv or youtube. Their is a great pathologist (Nicole Angemi) on instagram that is a wonderful example of a kick as teen mom. Pointed out to one family blogger that they need to review the FTC Endorsement rules because there was no #ad or #sp and I get tons of tweets defending this girl and saying that I am awful and she is wonderful. I responded to all of them whether they actually looked up the guidelines...nope!

i haven’t even watched the video yet but i can say that family vlogging skeeves me tf out. it is literally CAPITALIZING OFF OF YOUR CHILDREN. and the thing that makes it different from, say a commercial, is that it’s not industrialized. there’s no agents or whatever involved, there's no separation from normal and onscreen. it all seems innocent bc their parents are the ones creating the whole “brand”. these kids don’t understand that their videos are being used to make money and that they are technically part of a job. i just wonder how many family vlogging channels start out innocently and how many are made bc families see how popular they get. i feel like a lot of it could be in the parents’ subconscious so they think there’s no ill intent when that’s not really the case. anyway i love these internet analysis videos you’re making and i was so excited to see this one pop up.

Junior Farias Junior Farias bro...no i would feel exploited. it’s not like theyre choosing to “help” their parents they are being forced into it. it is not a child’s responsibility to provide income for the parents. so to answer your question....no, i would feel exploited as i got older. and there is a difference between making memories through film for yourself and literally trying to CREATE A BRAND out of your family/children. i am in no way jealous because there is a sad reality that some of these kids might feel like the only reason they’re given attention is for videos and views. also being constantly filmed can legitimately effect children mentally ESPECIALLY if they’re being filmed from birth.

@@Tushinho Sweetheart you sound extremely young and are likely a child yourself. I know it is very difficult to understand these complex issues, but if you're struggling with the points Chloe has made, it may be a good idea to raise them with your parents or another trusted adult. The right to privacy is incredibly important - which is actually why it's encoded in the European Constitution of Human Rights - and this is something that the parents are depriving their children of. It's the responsibility of parents to protect their children, and showing them on camera to the public constantly is not doing that. It is also inappropriate for parents to use their children for money - both inherently, and because of the threat this can pose to the welfare of their children.

With the Slyfox family they also do things with the older daughter (l know other vlogers do this too). Things like “ She started her period” and “buying her first bra”. I don’t know if anyone else would have been embarrassed but I most definitely would have. Imagine if the kids at her school would have watched it.

I have an idea. How about, for kids twelve and under, we make this special iPhone called iPhone, Jr., where everything in it is specially meant for kids, and if they try to type something inappropriate on the search bar, it’ll stop them from doing it or will say it’s not there. If they try to take an inappropriate picture, the camera will turn off. Should I go back to the drawing board?

The kids being pressured to act like they are in a relationship is SUPER problematic. Pushing heterosexual roles on them and making them think there's so much value in being in a relationship is not going to end up well at all. They are seriously f-ing their kids up. Only ''family vlogger'' I respect is Hannah Williams since 1) The cameras aren't in her boys' faces 24/7 and they do things as a family not involving vlogging 2) Family vlogging isn't their main income, she's a producer at Tasty and her husband works in music records I believe 3) Her kids are well rounded and generally good kids, albeit still very much young boys 4) The titles aren't some crap like ''BABY MCEIGHLYNN'S BOYFRIEND'' 5) Her sons have normal names that won't get them horrendously bullied
