If Biden wants to unify this country, Fanny Flagg deserves a medal of freedom. Nobody makes the South look as good as she does. Feeling blue? Read her books, they are truly wonderful filled with characters that you fall in love with. Even the protagonists are too funny to hate. My gift to my self each month is a new audiobook. You may have seen the movie Fried Green Tomatoes, but the book is so much more, an Ms. Flagg keeps giving us more. Bless you FF, you’ve been my Covid sanity.

I loved Fannie Flagg since her Match Game days. I have 6 of her books to read,I can't wait to start them. It's interesting how this lady that is dyslexic became a cherished author. Thank you for everything you do Fannie Flagg. From a Canadian fan. 🇨🇦❤🙏🕊🌹

She's definitely a legend! I remember growing up and watching her on "Match Game" back in the 1970's, and she's just as beautiful and charming today! It's so nice to see that she's still going strong! Congratulations and Hurray Miss Fannie!!❤💜💚

To me your stories are simply American. If anyone deserves a presidential Medal of Honor its Fanny Flagg. You embody unity, under it all we are all the same. There isn’t anything better right now than losing yourself in this author’s work.

I'm glad Fannie Flagg changed her mind. I just read "The wonder boy of Whistle Stop" and it was so, so good. I never expected a sequel to Fried Green Tomatoes but happy it came to be.

You know ...... there aren't many women, in this country, that posse's the fine qualities of Fannie Flagg. And I am talking about Southern, down-to-earth charm, beauty, especially inner beauty, and class. Sadly, many women, these days, just do not measure up to Miss Flagg. 🥺 She, is the total package, for a lady! 🥰❤️ I had a teenage crush on her, back in the 1970s. ❤️ Tony, an old school guy 62-year-old Black US AIR FORCE VET ✈️🇱🇷 And GOD-FEARING PATRIOT 🙏

Love the comments about small town life. Whistle Stop could have been the town my folks were from in Kansas. I first read the book after the movie came out when I was 31. Rereading it now at 61 and the story means so much more to me.

I've been watching Match Game reruns here on KZitem and blown by her beauty, wit and good humor, such a classy Southern Lady, and now that I know she's a novelist, looking into buying me the book shown in the video as I also grew up in a small town, Moab, Utah pop: more or less steady at 7,500 good souls!

Great interview, thanks for sharing! I have been looking for her, I’ve always loved and wanted to meet Fannie Flagg ever since Fried Green Tomatoes. I loved the movie and when I found out she had written the book about it first it made me love her more. That has been a dream of mine to have my stories/book(s) transformed into movies and stage plays. I also remembered enjoying watching her as a kid on Match Game. “With These Hands; A Country Girl Came To Town” is my first book. I have more in me. I did win an award for With These Hands. I always loved listening to my mother, my grandmother and my great grandmother tell me stories of days gone by , especially of their individual childhood stories. I preferred listening to them or read a book as a child rather than go outside. I always dreamed about growing up and writing about their rich delicious stories. I am so glad Fannie Flagg is still around, I would still love to meet her!

Q: If you could live in any town you've written about, which would you choose? A: ... probably the one I write about the most which is Elmwood Springs ... Which is based on a little town I grew up in, in Birmingham ... a suburb called Woodlawn. ... & I had such a happy time there because I lived with my grandmother, during the war ... And I was very happy then, so if I could go back and recreate it as it was ... Its changed, you know everything changes. I think I'd like to go back and live there.
