I enjoyed the movie. I do have some criticisms though: 1. Clothes. Damn. Why do wizards wear muggle clothes even when there are no muggles at all?! The first and fourth book specifically tell us that wizards don't like or understand muggle clothes and prefer extravagant cloks and hats. Like come on! 2. Suddenly there is a magic leader? Wot? 3. Dumbledore is not supposed to know about Room of Requirement as confirmed by 4th and 5th books; 4. THE SPELLS THAT MEET MID AIR! OH FFS! Now this was a lore break that movies used ever since the 5th movie. Spells cannot meet mid air. This can only happen as a result of Priori Incantatem, when both wands are related to each other. Tell me if I'm wrong. BUT. That aside it was an enjoyable movie. As much as I hate how they treated Johnny Depp, Mads Mikkelsen nailed it. Even though the character looks nothing like Johnny's Grindelwald, it sure feel like Johnny's. I didn't feel disconnected. I didn't feel that Mads' Grindelwald is a different character which just tells us the level of professionalism Mads has to play a character that was established by Johnny almost peefectly. That was great.

Dang its been 4 years since the last film. I wonder why they waited so long for this one,I never got a real answer(but its whatever). But I can say,is when I see a new film of a series,I don't set the my expectations too high on them cause it can be a complete flop. I watched the movie today and I believe there's still a lot of room for improvement(storyline was fine, graphics was very good, and many funny humorous scenes) and I loved chemistry of the cast as a whole. This particular film kinda reminds of abit of GobletOfFire cause there are tons of different groups of cultures and learn about eastern civilizations as well.. But you also have to remember look at the film of this series, they using political themes as well so yeah, this is more of political ideological war, than anything else..

I'm sad we won't get to see Depp's take anymore but Mads did a great job I can't deny. He and Jude did great with the chemistry between them. Speaking of Jude - he's pretty masterful in the role. This one went closer to Harry Potter than any of the previous ones. Most of us are very unsatisfied with the little progress made in each film. I get that. But it's coming from JK. Just look at the progress made in the Deathly Hallows in comparison to others in terms of actually defeating Voldemort. Dumbledore knew the whole thing from day one but the trio spent the whole time finding the tiniest of clues and taking small gradual steps. And it helped to create this amazing story and I like it. Things make sense this way and you feel a sort of helplessness that the characters go through. Suddenly, everything starts taking shape and everyone makes their move. I am eagerly waiting for the upcoming movies and I know I won't be disappointed. Understandably, life in Hogwarts is far more interesting to watch especially after growing up watching those. We won't feel the connection that we felt with Diagon alley or quidditch matches. But we get a glimpse of the Wizarding World from an adult's perspective and in somewhat serious matters. Pretty sure you'll get exactly what you want in the next movie(s): grindelwald rising to power, growing in supporters. Dont forget that this was the 3rd movie out of 5, and it happened in 1932. He loses in 1945 so that's still 13 more years. It wouldn't make sense for him to already rise to power this quickly and keep that position for 13 years, they would have said more about it in the harry potter books if that was the case.

Well Hitler came to power in 1933,and his power grew very quickly through the rest of the 30's.Since Grindelwald is supposed to be a wizard version of him,I expect Gellerts rise to go in a similar matter. I think it's a missed opportunity that Bunty wasn't Tina using a polyjuice potion. They used her position in the Auror office as an excuse for her not to be part of the first DA, but Theseus has the same position in the British Ministry. It could've been used as a reason for her to hide instead, because Grindelwald would know she is bad news. Remember that scene in the train when Bunty tells Newt that nobody can know everything? The camera pans to Tinas picture in the suitcase. So imagine that scene at the end, when Bunty brings the suitcase w/ the Qilin, she turns back into Tina and then says "Nobody can know anything" again. I would've loved if this happened... Also because I love the chemistry the two actors have (theory by Super Carlin Brothers)

Throughout this movie Albus and Aberforth seem pretty close, which is a far-cry from their relationship decades later when they weren't even on speaking terms. In fact it seems like at this point in time Albus regularly visits Aberforth at his home or at the Hog's Head, and there is little if any tension between them. My theory is, what will actually strain Albus's relationship with Aberforth has something to do with Credence. Now that Aberforth has his son back, he will undoubtedly do everything he can to save his life and to protect him. So in the next movie, Gellert might have some way to save Credence from dying from the obscurial. He meets Albus and offers to cure Credence if he agrees to join his side again. Albus of course refuses at first but Aberforth desperate to save his son pleads with Albus to reconsider. Left to choose between saving his nephew or saving the word from Grindelwald, Albus is put between a rock and a hard place. But after much soul searching and consideration, he lets Credence die and continues to stand against Grindelwald. This of course creates bad blood between the Dumbledore brothers, as a grief stricken Alberforth goes back to hating his older brother and blames him for causing everyone they love to meet a tragic end. Thus it is his refusal to do anything to save Credence rather than Arianna's death that makes Aberforth hold a grudge against Albus for the rest of his life.

This seems to be in line with what we see in the movie too.

Honestly I would rather have a slower build up to Grindewald’s power, rather than a boring “you know who I am - I’m the villain” rise to power. I think this story has a lot of depth, and most importantly really successfully bridges the gap between The Deahtly Hallows P2 and the new instalment of the wizarding world, which I think was in the greater interest of the Harry Potter fan base. I loved the improvement of graphics, and the visuals themselves are simply breathtaking, and are such a pleasure to behold. I think the myriad of questions that were answered about the Dumbeldore family really impressed me. Aberforth was incredibly under-developed (possibly intentionally) in the original films and the introduction to his son and the story of Ariana were very welcome in my opinion. For me this movie ultimately aimed to educate the audience on just how big the wizarding world is. The inclusions of several ministers of magic - on top of the international ministration of magic - are obviously there to inform the Harry Potter fandom of just how vast this universe is. Although this movie would be unsuccessful if not followed up correctly. A great movie this was, only if it is followed up by a Grindelwald/Dumbeldore battle, which I heavily look forward too and anticipate.

My guess on why the election for the Supreme Mugwump went the way it did is to avoid what would be a rehash of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1. Having Grindelwald win the election and the opportunity to enforce his beliefs and revolution would be all to familiar to Voldemort overthrowing the Ministry and enforcing his views and goals.

Even though I loooove this one I know it has issues and I feel that most of those issues had to do either with editing or screenplay but mostly the last one. Most people think that Steve Kloves return was a good thing because of the success of the HP films. But it seems that people forgot the problems back then when a movie was released. Until this day people is discovering the movies and eather they need to google stuff or people help them with the gaps or they are lost the entire time or they get things wrong while trying to figure it out. Steve always remove things and us as readers understood those plots even with no much visual explanation... we have the books for details so it wasn't a big deal for us. But in the FB franchise we need the details we don't have any books to help us. Yes! Steve Kloves gave an appropiate structure to this movie but the gaps in between took me away from the story. For example: 1. How Credence starts to communicate with Abeforth? Why? and When? 2. Why Queenie and Jacob can married now? Albus says something about and historical day so I made a story by myself... maybe a new law allowed them to marry now? No clue! 3. What was the mission of Yusf Kama? Specially after Lita was remove of his memory. Does his mission ended in this film? Is he at Dumbledore's side or is he with Grindelwald now spying for him? His story was so empty that I'm making stories in my head. I saw the movie once and I already have those three and I'm pretty sure two of them will not have an explanation in future movies and one can have it but I don't know if will have it. Anyways... maybe I'm going to notice more stuff after watching multiple times. So yeah the structure is great but the "lets asume they now" of Steve Kloves sometimes is a bit annoying. And as I said maybe the editing has some blame in this but to me that's his writing all over. Music was awesome and also de acting. I could feel the tension between Dumbledore and Grindelwald. The great care and love of Newt for his creatures. The dynamics between Teseus and Newt as brothes and same with Abeforth and Dumbledore. Somehow everything felt more real than the first two.

One thing about the Fantastic Beasts movies that I feel they are missing from the original series is that the places they are set in don't feel very magical. In the very first Harry Potter film, we were introduced to a magical world that felt both fascinating and engrossing. Who among us didn't feel a sense of wonder and awe the first time we entered Hogwarts through Harry's POV, or see the epic scope of the castle, or watch a game of Quiddich for the first time? Those scenes gave us a sense of enchantment and mystique that is sorely lacking in the Fantastic Beasts films. In Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, we explore New York City of all places. Don't get me wrong NYC is a beautiful city and a great setting to tell just about any story imaginable, however even if we haven't been to New York before, most of us have already seen films and TV that are set in NYC, so we are already familiar with the place. But what's more egregious is that we don't get to see a new side of the city like we did with Diagon Alley in London. Beyond the MACUSA office building and the one seedy bar, there was really not much going on in terms of worldbuilding for the magical community in all of these new movies. Even the more recent films have given us places that are more mundane than magical, as the MOMs of Paris, Berlin and Tibet can't hold a candle to Diagon Alley or even the British MOM that was much more whimsical and expansive.

You review was excellent especially as you discussed the importance of not comparing it to the HP films and yet showing how they are becoming more connected. I still maintain that the initial HP films were made for our inner child that slowly grows up with each movie while FB is for the adult with a bit of inner child thrown in (mostly with Newt and his beasts). We all enjoyed this film and I would give it a 7.8/10 as some of the points you made were valid. I am hoping that work on the next installments begin soon. Loved Lalie, she's a fantastic new character and Aberforth was very interesting to watch. I love that he's not a Dumbledore Hype machine like everyone else and calls him out when necessary, they're great together. Mads is also fantastic as Grindlwald and I enjoy this version so much more than the previous one which was too cartoonish. I liked that it focused more on the politics, as I don't think a rehash of Voldemort taking control by force would fit. Grindlwald is smarter than Voldemort in that respect, he's not quite there yet to go all out war on the wizarding world and tried a (more or less) legitimate way. You are wrong though saying he doesn't have a large following, he does and he still holds a lot of political power by himself, after all he managed to clear his name just like that. I would give the film an 8 or 8.5, it's maybe a little too long but other than that I really liked it. Has no one noticed that this movie changed the lore from HP 7? The duel between "Dumbledore and Aberforth" that killed Ariana that is described in the movie by Albus is not the same as the one he describes in the Deathly Hallows book, in which it was Aberforth vs Albus vs Grindelwald. He says to Newt that Grindelwald was merely a spectator, standing by and laughing.

Fantastic review of what is now my favourite Wizarding World movie yes I think it's that good. Mads is the perfect Grindelwald and we got to see his true colours when he slits the Qilin's throat and removes Yusef's memory of Leta. Glad Queenie went back to the good side and her and Jacob's wedding was beautiful. Eally Hinks is the best of the new characters and I hope we see Ilvermorny in the 4th film. The fight between Credence and Dumbledore and the final battle in Bhutan were beyond epic and James Newton Howard's score is astonashing as always. Credence being Aberforth's son makes more sense than him being a brother and hopefully Credence's mother will appear in the 4th film. While Tina's not in it much her scene at the end did not disappoint. I've seen it 3 times now to support it as much as possible!

As a potterhead, I definitely enjoyed the film, but I also share the same critique as you do. One thing I was left wondering, is that why did not Aberforth and Credence be in contact earlier if they already knew they were family? They were talking through the mirror, but not meeting. Did I miss something or is this something that will be explained in the later films? But yeah it's definitely better than FB2 was, and I can't wait for the last two films, I have a feeling they're saving the most epic stuff for the last two installments. Hopefully we won't have to wait 4 more years for that though. Great review and I suggest everyone watch the film (although if you're here you probably already watched it)!

I'll be honest. I didn't like this movie so much. I was waiting for something amazing to happen. Grindelwald was bland. I enjoyed only Jacob in this movie. And Tina (ik she's not the main focus) was there for like 60 secs. I really like COG inspite of the negative criticism. It gave so much more. The beginning was so fucking cool to watch. And the ending of the movie was also great. Grindelwald's speech was amazing. (I liked Depp as Grindelwald, not a fan of either actors) it was complex af and sometimes hard to follow. But I think as a HP fan I liked that. I didn't want to understand everything on first watch. It made me watch again. This one, I was like, we literally saw almost everything on the trailer. Grindelwald felt like any other villain. And with the title being secrets of dumbledore, we learnt only one secret about credence. I think almost every hp fan knows about ariana. And we all knew the blood pact was gonna break. I honestly didn't understand the point of this movie. PS: THIS IS MY OPINION ONLY. PLS DON'T ATTACK

First of all, to people who don't understand film: Of course you can't understand this film if you haven't already seen other films from Wizarding World franchise. Its not for people who love overall fantasy movies, its for people who are deeply connected to the Wizarding World and who understand how things work. I can't believe that half of "Top critics" reviews are people with bad reviews just because they don't understand things and didn't saw other films from HP universe. You can't write review for just this film and not inform about other films in franchise. It doesn't work that way. For me that is not great way to criticize a movie, you can't just sit in theater and expect that everything what happened in other two movies to be explained in 2h of third film, it doesn't work that way. Take your time and watch and try to connect with other movies before watching this. Of course you will be bored and couldn't stand pace with the film. Film is great for all "Potterheads" and those fans of Wizarding World. YES, it is made for desired public, not for all. Its big improvement from second film, you can see it from the beginning. Jude Law is best actor for young Dumbledore now I see this even more. Mads Mikkelsen, oh man. Where have you been from beginning of franchise? Awesome actor, awesome villain. I deeply enjoyed his performance. He knows how to do his job, really! Eddie who plays Newt is in this film second protagonist and I'm okay with that. After all, this series wasn't supposed to be about Newt, it was supposed to be about Wizarding World in 19th century and magical beasts. Magical beasts are so cute in moments, you can see diversity in every corner. In general movie is, as I said before, big improvement. It's answering questions from last film (not all, but plenty of them), duels seem fun even though there are a lot of non verbal spells but considering this is adult wizards movie, I can understand that. Some duels even tb me to the OOTP battle in Department of Mysteries. If you are into HP, give this movie a chance, you won't regret. IF you are not HP universe fan, please DON'T watch this movie, you won't understand half of things that happens and you are gonna hate the movie... It is the fact that it isn't for overall audience, it has SPECIFIC audience and that's okay with me. In film you can see plenty of new things that are happening in WW, you can see different areas in WW, for example see how election works in WW, how is it to be Supreme Mugwump etc... Movie ended on the threshold. I hope they made at least 4th movie, eventually 5th if it goes well, expecting some familiar faces... Final battle isn't here yet. Movie ended in a good way, leaving door open just a little. I hope so that it opens again in a few years again. I just love this world... P.S Katherine Waterston got covid during filming, because of that she wasnt in film that much. Actress who played Nagini was pregnant in that time, she also couldnt shot a movie... I beg for at least one more film...

I enjoyed the film as a bridge to the final showdown, but that is probably more as a fan of the "Wizarding World". I think this film is missing the broad appeal of the Harry Potter films. There is next to nothing for kids in it (in fact the early scene with the Qillin would probably traumatize many kids) and I don't think regular adults are going to like this much, either. You really needed to be invested in the Dumbledore story to get much out of this. I would really like to hear an explanation as to why Tina was left out of the film. I think she would have definitely brought more appeal to the film and could have made bringing Queenie back to the group more dramatic. But, it is still hard to explain why Queenie ever went to Grindelwald in the first place. That is the frustrating part of these movies, is that the writing is just not where it should be. I am glad we don't need to have Ezra Miller in the films anymore. These films are certainly cursed with bad actor choices based on their real life behavior. The rumors are WB is waiting to see how this performs before committing to any more movies. Based on how it is doing, this could be the last of the series and it would be a real shame if this story isn't finished. I hope that WB comes in and shakes things up in the writing department and gets someone else to write the final chapters. I like the remaining characters and the actors playing them. They just need a good script.

I wish Fantastic Beasts was just the very good first movie and then move on. Make Dumbledore vs Grindelwald its own saga if it was to be done. The transition to standalone story to long saga felt forced already on the second, damaging also the third from very the beggining. Having deep foreshadowing and connections was a strenght of JK Rowling on the original HP, but now feels more of a hinderance, trying to somehow keep poor Newt, Jacob and magic animals relevant with Dumbledore stealing the spotlight. (And I actually liked all those two guys a lot) Also, spoiler ahead: I really disliked the creedence dumbledore being true, the whole "being a dumbledore" seemingly making you blood powerful instead of each wizards individual merits on bravery, intelligence, cunning and hard work. That and the kirin essentially forgiving and downplayung Dumbledores mistakes a la thor's hammer.

I actually loved the film, it just ‚worked‘ for me. The mission-story, the characters and the chemistry they had on screen - be it Dumbledore and Grindelwald (I love Mads in that role) or Jacob and Lally or Newt and Theseus. The movie had the perfect balance to give the fans Potter-wibes while not ‚nerding‘ out the general audiance and also being serious (as for adults) but with charm and humor (I personally loved the little Dumbloredore glimpses from the future as for example when Jacob mentions the ‚muggle thing’ of shell games - they called it differently but I forgot, english is not my native language - and Dumbledore invites Jacob to join him and tell him more about it - I felt reminded of the Harry Potter Dumbledore just the way he said that.) My impression is that most of the negative reviews from Potterheads (if they are about the movie ar all and not about JK or Johnny Depp) make the mistake to impose standards to the movie that a movie can not fulfill. The Harry Potter lore based on the books is deep, is thought-out to the last detail and in the end there are pages over pages of explanation for everything (and still there are plot holes) and most of the critics on the Harry Potter movies are about the lore errors too. To now expect from the FB movies to tell a story as deep, as lore-conform, explained, cohere and detailed as a novel does the movies wrong and especially this one (and we have seen how confuse the attempt of this could go with FB 2). I personally hope that some day JK will add detailed books about the stories where everything gets explained and knitted together but till then I am totally fine with the FB movies to go less explained, less cohere and less detailed from Grindelwald-anecdote to Grindelwald-anecdote to Grindelwald- anecdote till we get the final duel in the end as long as we get an entertaining cast, good chemistry, some Harry Potter wibe and some emotional backstories on the way too.

! Credence is A discovery I thought about, but the way it was conveyed was powerful and sad. In general this character is particularly painful. I rewly hope Ezra will come back and not will end as depp.... The connection to Oriana except that both Obscurials and Aunt and Nephew does not exist. It turns out that Aberforth is the abandoner here. Did not explain it to my taste enough. Nor did they explain what happened to Credence. Was his name really Aurelius? A hole in the plot. .2. Mads Mickelsen is a good actor, but Depp just brought a performance and w more appropriate for the role. Im not agree with u . No fear just egular guy... As for Grindelwald - the opening was beautiful, definitely feels like an exe encounter. But, they weakened it too quickly in the end, and it's a shame that there is no logic in some of the passages. That his followers do nothing when they attack him for example ... or threaten him ... and the one who escapes in the end like a coward alone! This is really contrary to the character of the character. 3. The best part is this wonder-animal animal Chilean, absolutely magical! Really seems like a replica of Bambi, broke the heart the scenes with this sweet creature. Noble. The ending was too exciting and good, even at this point but touching. Quinny is a wonderfully sweet character. 4. Jude Law, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller and Eddie Redmine fits exactly for their role! Lily's actress was good too. The rest are anemic. 5. Another thing, there was potential for stronger scenes and again they seem to have been missed. Whether fights, to psychological moves. The beginning foretold something like this, but in the end it is not clear who read whose moves ... In the tell it is said that those who predict the future are confused ... How did they confuse if at all? It was not revealed. Left a taste of more. The magic remains.

Loved the film totally. Won't score it but these were the main highlights of the film: 1. Mads Mikkelsen casting as Grindelwald suited the progression that the film was making. Depp's version in comparison feels a bit rough around the edges. Mads added that suave touch to Grindelwald and charm that explains the love interest with young Albus. 2. Introduction of Lalie Hicks. She's a really great duelist and very proficient with a wand. The dinner scene with Jacob and the mountain duel scene with Thesius highlighted how good she is. Her personality also shone through and she commanded the scene. Perhaps a direct foreshadowing of Kingsley Shacklebolt? That's up in the air, but genuinely she was exciting. 3. I liked the election angle chosen for the film. In the original HP series we're introduced to magic politics and the importance of say Minister of Magic and how Voldemort worked to get Pius Thickness into the seat. Obviously that seat held power and you can imagine with control over the Ministy of Magic you determine who goes to Azkaban and who has control over Dementors etc. Not to say that the film (Secrets of Dumbledore) becomes a political film, but fans got to appreciate the place of magic politics in the HP universe. 4. Still on the politics vibe, the storyline development was quite well done, felt a bit disjointed but at least from "The Crimes of Grindelwald" you sort of appreciate that GG would have a good and decent enough following. Perhaps the film is setting up for an ode to the manner in which Voldemort recruited followers, gaining power in secret, for I anticipate that GG will rebuild in the shadows. 5. I like how the blood pact/troth scene played out. It is well introduced and it's powers explained, which makes you appreciate the opening coffee scene even more and why both men remained very civil because of how the chains react when it senses antagony against the other. In homage to how Ariana died as a result of the blood troth in place, my highlight of the film was how the blood troth was shattered. The moment it dawned on Dumbledore that he could now "move" against GG and the mini stand down they have thereafter highlights Dumbledore's power because we've seen Grindelwald in the earlier installments hold his own against 20+ above average aurors at ease but be pushed a bit, by Dumbledore. 6. The Credence/Aurelius Dumbledore storyline arc feels a lit ret-conned but it works. Didn't quite anticipate the Aberforth angle, but it ties it in decently. Combat scene with Dumbledore and how Albus blocks his attack with just a palm was unreal, before letting him off so easy. Quite like the way Dumbledore we expect. All in all, really great film. It benefits from better CGI technology to push duel scenes to the limit, good choice in casting. Bold enough to redirect course. I'm hoping the 4th installment doesn't act as filler for the 5th installment. There won't be much to do now that the duel with Grindelwald is inevitable, unless perhaps they use the film to give us filler material for the HP universe in which sense I'm all up for that. Will score this film a solid 8/10

Dumbledore wasn't supposed to know about the room of requirements right? Also, muggles are not suppose to be able to enter Hogwats, its in the history of Hogwarts book Hermione talked so much about. And finally, they build the character of Credence for two movies just to have him flip flop in just one scene. On a different note, when are wizards and witches going to start wearing robes and pointy hats? You know, like in the book? Other than this, i liked the movie, its obvious credence is going to be related to Snape, thatline from Abaforth "always" is the proof.

I must admit that i was thoroughly disappointed by the movie. While it did fix the major issues of the second movie, it also removed everything that was good about it. For instance, grindelwald, this dark wizard punk, who used to manipulate people into following him ("for the greater good", "it is not we who are violent") just becomes wizard hitler who openly tortures muggles, completely removing the aura of manipulative ambivalence which made him in my opinion a great character in crimes of grindelwald. We are left with a movie that does nothing wrong but nothing right either and i must say i was bored watching it in theatre. I also see a problem coming for the final duel between dumbledore and grindelwald: The series so far introduced that the good guys don't win by being the stronger wizards conventionally, but by using fantastic beasts to their advantage. In the final duel as depicted im the hp books, however, dumbledore defeats grindelwald just by being better. If they do it like that, it somewhats defeats the purpose of the movies (why even make 5 movies about fantastic beasts, when the final duel is just solved by power). However, if they change the course of the final battle into a situation, where newt helps dumbledore win the duel with some magical creature, in a way it undermines dumbledores character: so much of him in the hp books depends on him being the most powerful wizard, having defeated grindelwald (who had the elder wand!!) in a fair fight. So either they show the duel as it was in the hp books, breaking with the theme of their own series, or they stay true to their movies and break with a character from hp. I must say im not particularly optimistic about the future of the fantastic beasts franchise.

The film is well made. Not without flaws this is true, but definitely did a better job there than the previous film. And the story is always full of Rowling's values, from the love of animals, to the value of friendship, love - the most powerful force in nature, Dumbledore's disappointed love for Grindelwald is touching! The battles are not bad, Jude Law is excellent, Credence is a heartbreaking story! Who integrates with his aunt Ariana. And the marvelous beast Chilyn is simply the Bambi Wonder! And even if the story does not progress at a very orderly and fast pace, he has taken a step forward from which it is possible to finish, and not tell the sequel, but also leaves a window to continue the next two films.

This one was actually pretty great and much much closer to the Harry Potter series, it's a bit underrated tbh.

A minor improvement on the last film… but this isn’t saying much. The hope and expectations I had in the first film have been completely dashed. I for one loathe the shift, the idea of Newt and co’s adventures could have been fantastic, a sort of Wizarding Indiana Jones. Keep Dumbles and Grindels in the background. Also the absence of Tina is strongly felt, Lally Hicks is IMO not a welcome addition, in fact I find her annoying, and throughout the film I was always wondering how all so much better the film would have been with Tina instead of Lally. Can you imagine Tina persuading Jacob to go with her on the mission? Tina, filled with resentment and anger, since she was against her sisters relationship with the man. Jacob feeling reluctant and then trying to prove himself to Tina that he is more than worthy of Queenie’s affections. You mention the theme of racism or xenophobia, well IMO it would have been interesting for one of the protagonists to actually go through her own journey on the subject and start questioning the laws she had sworn to protect. Also the ending with the Qilin bowing towards Dumbles as someone of pure heart?! Seriously?! Dumbles of pure heart?! Aside of Grindels, Dumbles is the shadiest main character of the film (the creature should have bowed towards Newt)

Can you make a video on what magic is in Harry Potter world? Like is it generated from inside the body or is it absorbed from nutrients or the air. Or can wizards and witches get tired from doing magic, the only time in HP I see people tired or breathing hard is when they do physical labor.

I liked the first one alright, loved the 2nd one, was absolutely DISGUSTED with how they treated Depp and ALMOST was gonna not see this movie, especially since I feel like it would have made more sense and been explainable to re-cast Collin Farrell as Gridelwald, but I like Jude Law as Dumbledore, and figured they can't screw this up...boy was I wrong. This movie was as bad as the ONLY movie I've ever walked out of in my life (Dunkirk). You could have done was this movie did in a 5-10min mini film. The magic scenes were absolutely disgusting. I thought the first one was like a dream scene/mind type scenario, but they kept happening and looked so fake and took me out of the story. Whoever had the idea to make a 5 film series, should be shot. A trilogy is perfect, and I thought after all the drama and 'rona pushbacks, they were just gonna end it here, and they should have, because then it might have actually been decent.

Ngl, after watching the second film in theaters I was so underwhelmed and was worried about the future of the franchise. Leaving a comment for the algorithm since I haven’t watched it yet so I won’t continue watching the rest. But I do want to share my frustrations with people who are boycotting it because of Johnny Depp. Yes it’s upsetting he was removed but he was never meant to play Grindelwald; the entire look reminded me too much of a Tim Burton character. They should have gone with Mads from the beginning. With that said I have hope for the future films if they decide to move forward with it.

There was so much cool mechanics, storyline and magic & spells but at the same time there was a lot of missing backstories of them. There was a lot of going on but they were not explained "how". How and why killing curse didn't kill Qilin, how does it work the spell mirror dimension albus uses, how grindelwald using vulnera sanentur version that before severus snape invented it. As a HP fan ofcourse i enjoyed it but at the same time it felt like all of the cool things not explained to us. I know theese two wizards the greatest wizards of their time but how the spells working i would like to get an explain.

These are fully qualified wizards, no longer in school. They can create new spells, enchartments, and charms as they want. This is not Hogwarts school were they teach "wingardium leviosa", come on now. This is adult wizarding world were most spells are non verbal and no need to explain. But I can also see what you mean, those who aren't familiar with the spells don't understand it without explanation. These Fantastic Beast movies were meant for the HP book readers with imagination. No wonder this franchise has made less money than the HP movies. But I'm glad we are out of Hogwarts. I wish this franchise was more adult than PG-13. Magical

@@SomeOne-yv8jf ı see your point and i agree. We are not in hogwarts in this franchise but even though i would like to have explanation for some of the stories and spells. And other than that, bunty's storyline was absolutely nonsense. Albus is the greatest wizard of his time and he couldn't duplicate just a simple traveling case of newt? Cmon that was cheasy and even the scene was cheasy. And i waited until the very end that bunty turn out to be Tina all along. Everything was perfect for bunty actually was Tina senario. And even bunty said to newt " no one can know everything, not even you" and ay the very end we hear that second time from bunty...it could be perfect if in that scene bunty revealing herself that was Tina all along. It could be more sense for me tbh...

Is it possible that the cores of Albus's old wand and the Elder wand are twin cores, which makes it easier for Dumbledore to defy Grindelwald?

Not that it matters much, but "Qilin" being pronounced "chillin" isn't *too far* off The "i" sound is kind of like the e in "we" in Mandarin, and the "q" does actually have kind of a "ch" sound, so (ignoring Chinese tones) the creature's name is pronounced something like "chee-leen"

My own theory Dumbledor like grindlwald can see into the future If you look back at every HP and FB film he always seems to be aware of every single thing that’s going to happen and let’s it play out. In the books he said to snape when the dark lord is protecting nagini he needs to tell Harry the secret etc… he never told Harry or any knowledge that nagini was a horcrux. But he seems to be able to plan everything he told newts brother not to break up the meeting in FB 2, I believe both dumbledoor and grindlewald learnt how to do this together when they were together in their youth. Look into it I’m sure you will all agree I wouldn’t be surprised if this is announced within the next 2 FB films it’s already confirmed that grindlwald can so why wouldn’t albus be able to do the same….

My honest opinion goes right in line with a lot of what the Super Carlin Brothers hour long review spoke of. Visually, the movie was fantastic, but the story was really lacking luster. It would bring something new and not even give us a simple explanation. The Credence reveal was anticlimactic and didn't give any basis; the characters looked just as let down as we were. So much I would have changed. Starting the movie off with a introduction into the fight with Aberforth, Albus and Gerhart with mystery still installed would have been so much better suited. Give us more then a 3 minute discussion next to the fire.
