Can we just give the Michael Chiklis a round of applause. He wanted to give the most authentic in-person portrayal of The Thing regardless of the film's quality. As such, he insisted on wearing cumbersome make-up and costume instead of just simply voicing a CGI character for the same pay and less effort.

Yeah Galactus is one of the greatest marvel villains of all time and they botched him up big time in this film. I've read the 80s Surfer comics and Galactus was always one of the best parts. He even called him Galacticus in the one time he described the comics version! Come on, Critic, you saw the movie and he's called Galactus! EVERYTHING regarding that movie was literally done half-assed so I'd even say it wouldn't even get a full "chance" of even making the movie in general... the other 3 movies count as a full attempt... they still suck but there studios were actually attempting to make a good movie; keyword there is "attempting" lol ...so yeah, there's really ONLY been 3 and a half attempts at making a "Fantastic Four" movie... NOT a full 4 attempts lol

Seriously, all they needed was to twitch the idea a little bit: how about the F4 actually worrying about what is happening in the world, but since they've become celebrities, the public and the media demands them to have a wedding because it is the most anticipated event in the history of ever. Even the government can be on it in order not to spread panic (everyone is too focused on the wedding so they can fight the Silver Surfer). Now the F4 face a conflict between saving the world and giving people what they want.

Hell, for comic books, Deadpool is an unrepentant mass-murderer who kills kids and he was changed in the films to a likable, nicer lighter shade of neutral in the movies because of Ryan Reynolds charisma. Things changing is fine when adapting works from other mediums. Calling Victor von Doom something less stupid is totally acceptable and when he appears in the MCU, you better fucking believe they're NOT gonna call him that lol

Well actually the Stan lee cameo is a reference to the comics where Stan lee and jack Kirby get kicked out of Reed Richards and Susan storms comic wedding.

Hunter Lane I'm still holding out for a review of "Michael Jackson's Ghost". Stephen King was the co-writer for it. It has to count, somehow. Not to mention, the film was released along with "Thinner".

Sorry Critic, but I couldn't disagree more about The Surfer. He's supposed to be slim and sleek and him having a deep and booming voice works because the comics version was always dramatic and sort of archaic when it came to speech patterns. Indeed that's why he was one of Stan Lee's favorite characters to write, because his speech could be so larger than life and verbose because he's both an alien and a being that is herald to what is essentially a god. Stan's even mentioned it in the past.

LupineShadowOmega But the Silver’s personality is clearly supposed to be more contemplative, passive, and detached, which means you need a softer more monotone voice to match that. So more Dr. Manhattan from the Watchmen movie who’s more misanthropic and similarly emotionally detached character. Fishbourne’s deep booming voice would match someone like Galactus but not Silver Surfer.

alexh4319 disagree. Contemplative is correct, but the Surfer has never really been detached or passive. Indeed, at his worst he was quietly mournful, but mournful nonetheless. He isn't Doctor Manhattan and the two only share a similar look and the idea of having great power, but Manhattan has forgotten his humanity where as Surfer mourns his with each and every breath. But, he's also has become the very thing he promised he'd become in order to save his people. He's the Silver Surfer, so kind of demanding, verbose, and a mournful harbinger of the end for more planets than even he remembers and more lives than he could ever count. So again, disagree.

LupineShadowOmega So you really think a deep voice really fits Silver Surfer. And Silver Surfer is detached in the sense he’s at first inconsiderate of the human condition having loss hope long ago for a happy life in his homeworld. He really shouldn’t have a deep booming voice - that’s Galactus not Silver. A deep voice doesn’t fit. Sorry.

alexh4319 he never had hope of a happy life. He literally gives up what was a happy life so that those that he loves can live on without him. He martyrs himself so that his family, his people, his world can live. There is nothing detached about that. And he isn't inconsiderate of the human condition, he's all too aware of it. And aware that it is all utterly meaningless before the hunger and the power of Galactus. Hunger and power that he's seen first hand and watched utterly destroy countless lives and races. Surfer doesn't serve because he doesn't care, he serves because there is no other choice in his mind. As for Galactus's voice, that's neither here nor there. Galan works with a booming and imposing voice sure. But he's also had success with calm and collected tones, sad disinterest, and about a dozen or so other takes on the character throughout different media. One of my favorite was from the old Silver Surfer series and that version was more collected than anything else. And you really got a feel for Galactus beyond him being a being of power. Indeed, you feel sorry for Galactus because much like the Surfer at his best he isn't some mustache twirling villain, he's a being that knows that he has killed countless sentient beings and regrets this fact. But also knows that there is no other way for him to continue and continue he must for not only the good of the current universe, but the one to come. Much like any real good villain, he's complex and as such you want acting that can get across all parts of the character. So yeah, I think the voice fits. The movie itself wasn't great, but Fishbourne was never one of my problems with it. Nor should he really be anyone's.
