The 18 wheels idea could be a great tool to extinguish fires. I would love to see a modern version of what used to be a mine clearing tank (the Sherman Crab) during WW2, it used a rotating flail system to clear mines and barbed wires. Today they could use the same flail to extinguish fires, but instead of a tank, they could use a robotic 18 wheels bike, like the one showed in the clip.

All modern trains run on electricity. It's just that some of them generate it internally using a generator. So they are a perfect application for any form of renewable fuel generators, so long as they can produce the needed wattage. Additionally, the UK has already trialed hydrogen trains successfully, and some old engines are being converted into "new" hydrogen units.

Very interesting inventions, thanks. I’d like to see more 100% electric trains though. You can power them with electric rails on the ground or possibly through electromagnetic induction. Electricity generated from green sources like wind and solar power can go directly to powering the trains, avoiding the losses of powering hydrogen production instead, then sending hydrogen to the train and converting that again back into electricity to run the train.
@karol8525
10 ай бұрын
In Poland we do use coal for most of our electrical power, so why not hydrogen for our trains. Especially since wind power is unreliable and proven to be problematic for local wildlife, and solar isn't a match for colder and cloudy weather.
@movingforward20
10 ай бұрын
Well actually you have ocean tidal power at the shoreline for Poland, and in the south solar can be a good option or possibly a more wild-life friendly wind power design. Alternatively, next generation nuclear might be another option, plus energy storage, either gravity based or battery-based as Poland and other countries switch to these energy sources and shut down coal, oil and natural gas plants. The trouble with hydrogen trains is hydrogen is not readily available. You need to split water (H2O) and that takes energy. So where do you get the energy from? One of those energy sources I mentioned hopefully (like tidal or solar power). But you will have energy conversion losses because the train needs electricity and you are converting the hydrogen essentially back into electricity. It’s just a waste of energy when you could have sent the electricity straight to the train or to a battery powered train.

Moving floor trailers? New? I drove semis 30 years ago while working for a trucking company that contracted out to sawmills and paper mills needing sawdust, wood chips, and hog-fuel transported/delivered. Hog-fuel is the removed bark from trees and burned in the "Hogs" i.e. the enormous cooking vats that paper pulp is cooked down in. The floors in the hog-fuel trailers looked like, and operated just like what is shown in the video.

On the train that could be quite useful in long distance traveling as volume of fuel tanks are irrelevant as it could just have an entire train car that is just one massive fuel tank. The biggest problem with hydrogen fuel is that it takes up a great deal of space as it is a very low energy to volume fuel level. As trains can have hundreds of cars that it pulls what does it matter if it pulls an extra tanker or two of cars carrying fuel for the engine. And instead of having to refuel the tankers you just disconnect the empty fuel car and connect a fuel car that is topped off.
@deadeyeduncan5022
