💙You can see Sylvester Stallone's influence as Director showing up in Travolta's body. He never looked this good before or after. I saw an interview where John gave a lot of credit re his performance and body in this film to Sly. I never suspected that Stallone had directed this before seeing that interview. Stallone was his body transformation coach. John was afraid to do this film because he was so out of shape, Sly talked him into doing it & promised him a great film. I think fans agree that both succeeded in their goals!!❤️

First non kids movie I ever saw. I got the soundtrack for a present before I saw the movie with my mom. The movie confused me though, I was entertained by the story, I thought it was exciting but I didn't know why the man was dancing like a girl. I remember feeling disturbed when leaving the theater. Upon reflection, that's the moment someone watching my life would be able to determine I'm going to be straight when I grow up. I just watched the movie again for the first time in 30 years, John is so frigging talented!!! And clearly bi. The movie itself is DREADFUL but never boring, talent all over the screen just none behind the camera. Those costume choices, yikes. Hands down that's the bravest thing any male actor ever did on screen.....THAT was what killed his career. Wow that was risky. Glad he had a come back, he deserved it

I liked this movie and so did alot of other people who at the time didn't want to admit it. Staying Alive's original budget was 22 million and it grossed 127 million worldwide in 1983 which based on that time was excellent when you factor in the lower costs of everything and how many tickets had to be purchased to generate that amount. Professional dancers in the movie with Travolta said that he was so good that he could have easily continued as a dancer and made a nice living. Frank Stallone's music was a perfect match and again the Travolta charisma was magical. For those looking for a suitable sequel to Saturday Night Fever this movie definitely filled the Bill.
