I think I just watched the best, most comprehensive reviews on KZitem! What a great and well executed video. Plus, coffee percolators hold a romantic space in me due to childhood and sense-memories. Good job Camping Guidance!

@@CampingGuidance I actually use the 9-cup Bialetta Moka Pot, it suits my need just fine. I started out looking at percolators on Craigslist looking for an old one that was in good shape. I'm not looking to buy/use one, sometimes I just look to look. Then, of course, I went to KZitem and watched a few other videos as well as yours. I'll tell you what, if I were to buy one it would definitely be the Farberware Yosemite!

@JoeCubicle Oh cool! Thanks for sharing Joe. I've also used the Bialetti for some time, but I found that percolators made slightly better tasting coffee. But that's totally subjective of course :) The Bialetti is definitely great and less hassle, that's what I think. Thank you for watching my videos even though you weren't planning to buy a percolator, really appreciate it :)

Thank you 🙏 for mentioning minimum workable water volume. I used to wonder why I would get nothing but hot clear water when attempting to brew with just 10 ounces of water! More people should mention this! Very good and informative video! Cheers.

Good video. I've been ordering, and returning these to Amazon. The 12 cup was too big so I returned that, and ordered an 8 cup version. With the first one, the knob was cocked, but less so with the replacement. I just don't understand why the knob can't screw in straight.

Iv just bought this perculator and haven't yet used it.. but I appreciate your advice here that 3 cups of water makes perfect coffee in this perculator 👍. I'll always remember that now.. so thanks 👍. And maybe 2 tablespoons of coffee would be ideal? 🤷
@CampingGuidance

Oh just take note that 3 cups is the minimum! Anything more is perfect too, just don't go less than 3 cups haha. And as for the coffee, that depends on how strong/weak you like yours to be! 🥰

I find that at full capacity, once the perk begins I set my timer for five minutes. After, remove from heat and allow brew to settle. Works a charm for me. Thanks for a very good guide.

Excellent video. Very detail oriented. Thanks for doing the research for us, it is appreciated very much. I have discovered if you wet the basket before you put the coffee in it cuts down on grounds in the coffee, although I didn't see many at all. I love my percolators! I have 2 but I may need to get this faberware!

@Bunkyman Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the video and the details, really appreciate your comment as well! 😊 And thank you for the tip on the basket wetting too, it really does help! But I'm not too bothered by the grounds either, they usually just settle at the bottom (and there usually isn't a lot). Let me know if you get the Farberware! Hopefully it's as good as your 2 other percolators 😊

Thank you for such a detailed video explaining how to use this and all its parts. 😊 I have one question though: Would I be able to use this on an electric stove top that has the actual wire/rod looking burners? I don’t know how to explain it. It’s not a glass top stove and it’s not a gas stove. I hope that makes sense. 😅

It was my pleasure, and I'm glad that you found it helpful! :) I'm pretty sure that you would be able to use this on any stovetop, including induction stoves! At least that's what I gathered from my research into these percolators. I'm so sorry that I don't have an electric/induction stovetop to test this out, but I'm pretty sure it'll work on the stove that you described :) But to be sure you might want to reach out to Farberware to double check.

What is the discrepancy on price listed and price paid? This is a nice review, but I wish you had given your coffee grounds used not by weight, but by teaspoons.

@SerpentLord666 Hmm I'm not too sure actually. I remember this percolator being very reasonably priced for many years, including when I bought it (back in 2020). Not sure why it suddenly increased so much in price, could be supply chain issues maybe? Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it! I'll remember it the next time I do coffee reviews :)

Wow why dont you brew 1/2 cup! Can you take the time to do a while pot?
@CampingGuidance
Жыл бұрын
Hi Ron! Hmm I think 1/2 cup is a little too small, the minimum capacity for this is around 3 cups or 18oz from my testing. The whole pot is about 8 cups or 48 ounces, which I tested under "Brew Time" if that's what you're looking for 😊 Let me know if you need more info!

To help keep grinds out of your coffee after finished perking coffee pour a couple of tablespoons Of cold water down the spout and all the grinds will drop to the bottom of the pot.

I got one of these 2nd hand. Everything is there except the inner spring. The spring is missing. Can you still use this without the inner spring? Also do you know if you can buy a replacement spring?
@CampingGuidance
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Josh, thanks for your question! Yes, I do believe that you can use it without the inner spring, because my other percolators didn't come with springs either, and they all worked well. The spring is actually there to press the filter basket against the lid so that the grounds don't flow out into your coffee. It should work fine without the spring, as long as you don't overfill the filter basket. Also, Amazon seems to sell the replacement springs for a few dollars, but I've never bought them so you might have to do a little bit of research on that before buying. Hope this helps!
