Australia was trailing behind much of the Western World when it came to transitioning to colour television. Despite tests done in the 1960s, it wouldn't be until the 1st March 1975, in which Australians would mark 'C-Day' in their calendars and start planning to upgrade to the latest colour receivers.
But how would the national broadcaster, ABC TV, mark this momentous occasion? Well, they decided that an unusual but rather iconic Australian character, together with her band of friends, would be the perfect spokespeople to usher in the wonderful world of colour for our friends down under. Thus Aunty Jack, together with her friends Thin Arthur and Kid Eager, would play their part in showing Australians just how amazing colour television could be!
But who is Aunty Jack? What barriers did Australia face in getting colour TV up and running? Join me, in the this documentary, as we explore just how Australia, would embrace colour television!
