To be fair, the oldest of them is approaching fifty years old. I can just about remember their introduction on the Western Region in 1976......

the volunteers are they all allowed to walk on the slippers on the points because they are staff they are allowed and they are definitely wearing orange high viz.

@@kieranhands4926Not really. The reason for not walking on sleepers is because are slippery and a fall hazard, and pointwork is a trip hazard. Makes no difference whether you have hiviz or on a preserved line. A fall is a fall, and a trip is a trip, and a likely injury wherever you are....
