30:54 it's what sells (the dbn and jozi acts). Our own people don't fw us enough to sell out these events.

Its a huge loss for the Gqom scene and I hope there is someone that can fill his boots within the industry. The guy has bangers for days.

I want to tell you guys how i found you via instagram. Ok so it goes way back. To when i was young and fresh and a party animal. I kind of rolled in similar circles as ikon so i followed him on my personal account and had been to his parties. Like when he was playing house music and not hip hop lol. I saw one day he shared a drinkboet (not sure if thats the name now!) clip on stories and i watched it and it peaked my interest so i went and watched an episode. It was a while later, youtube recommended me the one where it featured gremlin. I liked his vibe although i havent listened to hip hop since ja rule was around 😂 dam! I am showing my age now. But i enjoyed the discussion etc so i wanted to support. Then i saw that a lot of the line ups gremlin was putting on his stories, had kane on as well so i chose to follow kane and then you guys brought out your podcast. If it wasnt for a story share i would have never known about you guys. And although its really hard for me to get to gigs you guys play cause all my mates REFUSE point blank to go with me to a hiphop event (however i have a plan to trick them into going with me soon 😂 lol, might include some lying!) i would support you both based on who you are and not actually the music. This podcast has given me amazing insights and inspiration. Although i DJ mostly tech / bass house, i have now planned a set that has crazy creative transitions and word plays for my gig coming up because i felt CALLED OUT for being mediocre. I have been a DJ for 1 year, currently in school for production, run a marketing agency and studying a degree unrelated to my music production course 🙉 etc and going through major health issues but i want to take my DJing more seriously. I dont want to be a producer who sucks at DJing. I want people to be able to put some respect on my name because i have skill as a dj. You guys truly inspired that. I am so thankful for that ONE story that got me here. And it was in such a round about way lol So i dont really agree with the no phone policy. I love taking videos of the events i go to. But i take a 30 second - 2 minute video per set then tend to enjoy the rest. I dont drink alcohol either so i know i will remember the vibes but to play that video back puts me right back in that feeling that i felt that night
