I'm a middle aged passive console player. Don't get passive wrong. I'm always cooking sulfur and stockpiling gp somewhere half clever for when someone needs to be removed from my rust experience. Lmao yeah that ain't happening..so was I bruh but I opted to not buy into the cash grab bs that is Rust console anymore and just bought a PC..GeForce serves as a great stand in way to play Rust efficiently until u can build/buy a PC that can run it smoothly! Us middle aged gamers developed the golden era of gaming that u see being poorly imitated nowadays on YT...no way in hell should we be stuck dealing with the shitty kids from Rust console community! One item for advanced farming that wasn't fully covered is using heaters to increase the temperature at night (or constantly in the snow biome.) You can use an electric branch and branch off between your solar panel and battery to use the solar panel as a daylight sensor. Send the branched signal into a blocker's side port, and run power to the heaters through the blocker. It will only turn on when it's cold at night because the sun is not providing power to the solar panel, allowing power to pass through the blocker to the heaters.

Finally a guide that mentions low tech farming. Just havint a planter box, ceilling lights and a water catcher is SUPRISINGLY effective. All the other guides make it seem like you need to build a tier 3 farm or not bother at all. I discovered farming this month and I don't even bother with crossgreeding. I just plant seeds and keep the ones with good genes, water the plants from my water catchers and watch them grow like you show here. This wipe I got a YYGGWH hemp seed and it yields 300 cloth from just one planter box which is crazy. Thank you for your many helpful Rust videos. You are a true staple of this community. I believe I have watched your Trainyard guide at least 7 times, trying to learn the loot run and it now is my favorite monument. Did you know that there is an angle where you can kill the recycler scientists without them shooting back? Just get on the crane that is closest to the recycler building and get on the part of that crane which is the furthest away from the building. If you now shoot underneath the building it is easy to snipe the scientists.

So I'm really new to rust, but with as many hours in games like dayz and fallout, I understand alot of it pretty well and rather quick. Being new it has frustrated me so many times already and I've almost given it up, lol, until seeing your video and realizing just how much more the game has to offer. I had no idea the game dealt with things like plant genetics. That alone makes me question just how much more I'm missing out on as well as wondering just how good this game is. I just bought it 4 ps4 costing still 50 bucks. Multiple rough starts had me really close to refunding it. But now I'm seriously interested in learning all I can about it. Thank you for the great content. As well as for reigniting my interest in this game.

Hi Jfarr! Thanks for making the video, thought it was very comprehensive and easy to follow! Subscribed! I'm currently setting up a farm and I'm finding my water condition is sticking on 75% even though the water in my planters is 9000/9000. I've been playing around and it appears that I am over watering the planters which is having a negative effect. Turning off my sprinklers actually increases the water condition. I'm guessing here so if anyone can fill in the blank, but it feels like there is a sweet spot with watering rather than just having the sprinkler going all the time. Just for context, to start with I had 4 planter boxes, with 4 sprinklers (1 per planter) and water condition stuck to 75%. I've changed this to one sprinkler shared between the 4 planter boxes but didn't notice much of a difference (planter saturation was still 8000-9000). Turning off the sprinkler completey and letting the planter saturation fall lower seems to be improving the water condition, it's increasing and currently on 95%. I guess, is the solution to have sprinklers on a timer? Does anyone know the planter saturation sweet spot?
@JfarrYT
2 жыл бұрын
Cheers Lowell and very interesting find. I wasn't sure if this was a thing when making the video but seems like it might be. I guess having your sprinklers on a timer or just manually flicking a switch is the best approach to not overwater them. However, it would be interesting to know the sweet spot level and how much overwatering actually effects the yield. I will likely cover this in a future farming related video when I have time to test it out.

Jfarr, your vidoes are very promising and useful But calculation is wrong about sprinklers and distribution to planter boxes -For maintain server performance sprinkler distribute 15 ml per5 seconds (180ml per minutes) -If you have 3 planter boxes, every planter boxes get 5 ml per 5 seconds (60ml per minutes, per larger boxes) -If you have 4 planter boxes, every planter boxes get 3 ml per 5 seconds, remaining 3 ml will be wasted. (36 ml per minutes, per larger boxes) So best way is using 1 sprinklers for 3 planter boxes -Btw still there is huge bug about sprinklers. Sprinkler uses 10 ml per 5 seconds (120 ml per min), and sprinlers distribute 15 ml per 5 seconds (180 ml per min)
@JfarrYT
2 жыл бұрын
Damn, I was unaware of the bug. I tested to see how much water the sprinklers used from within a water barrel every minute and found it was 120ml. Didn't realise the game currently just creates new water to distribute out of thin air. Thank you for informing me and others of this.

The server I play on right now is friendly seatle and is a great because it allows me and my friends to build really cool structures and bases without the worry of being raided, but still offers pvp areas around the map if you want to do some pvp. Everyone in the server is really nice and will help you out with anything and it gives new players a chance to learn how to do monuments and such without the stress of other people trying to kill you and take your stuff. It plays more like a minecraft server but with pvp zones on certain monuments and I highly recommend you give it a try

Mate why does no tutorials include the usage of electrical branches, and exclude the usage of splitters, using splitters will split your output into three, (if you're only using one splitter), and therefor every output receives 33 power, and therefor the battery doesn't save power, therefor your electrical source will run out of power when the battery isn't receiving power, such as during nights whilst using solar panels.
