Let me post this possibility. The pizza SHOULD have taken 30 min, with 15 min cooking and 15 min delivery. But in reality, it could be 5 min cooking (using half cooked parts instead of fresh from ground up) and 25 min delivery(because the driver is taking detour to deliver another one first) How would you feel about that? Granted, their pizza were meh to start with, so you might not necessarily notice the difference in taste that will result in. But there would certainly be a difference. PS: On that note, I NEVER buy a "normal" pizza, I always customize at least a little and inspect said customization, just so that I can avoid potential completely stale/readymade pizzas.

I worked across the street from a LJS, ate there once. The fish and stuff was lying in a pool of oil on the plastic plate. It was oozing grease. Yuk. So one day I'm standing across the street at work and look over through their picture window and see a huge grease fire erupt. All these flames shot up and the workers inside were running back and forth, waving their arms in the air. I was too far away to hear the screams. It was quickly put out, no one was hurt. But looking back it was hilarious. Like watching the Stooges.

Taco Bell is... reasonable, excessive cheese aside. And if you only eat the burger w/o fries or drink at burger place, it's not excessively bad. Not health foot persay, but also not "unhealthy". As far as eating out in general. Certain authentic Asian and Mediterranean can be healthy. The problem there lies in the "authentic" part. Because a lot of the more western-facing ones will add extra sugar or diary in various ways as that's what westerners are more used to. And the cheap places might use pre-made sauces that are.... questionable at best to make cooking easy. But if you can find an authentic place, those cooking tend to not drown in as much salt or fat. As for western food... I'm not sure if anything beyond grilled/steamed/broiled seafood are healthy.... And even then you need to be careful and not get ones drowned in diary products. I love my steaks, but red meat ain't the best thing for you.

I've had several people get mad because the tracker told them I'd be there in 5 minutes but I don't show up for almost a half hour due to having 4 runs and theirs was the last in the line. On that note, please don't get mad at the drivers. We're doing our best 90% of the time (there are a few that's shit...). Also, please don't say "I'd tip you but I don't have much money" or "keep the change" if you're only planning to give just the actual change part for a tip. If you can't offer a decent tip for us coming to bring you food, just hand us the money and don't say anything. Yes, we judge and remember but if you say things like this, we spread that info around.

Charles - I hope you do have upgraded insurance on your vehicle to cover on the job accidents. I've a friend who was injured in an accident as a delivery driver and they didn't have a rider to allow for using their vehicle for work purposes - and their employer of course doesn't cover any personal vehicles used for deliveries - so their insurance denied coverage for their accident. The person has ongoing back problems from the wreck and is struggling for treatment. Just a warning to you with as crazy as people drive... look to getting additional coverage either through a rider or an umbrella policy of some kind, so if you do have a wreck and get hurt, you're not left wondering how your injuries get paid for. Check with a local insurance broker where you are, they can help you source policies and prices. Having low-end coverage, and not having under/uninsured motorists can be a bad thing, same for not having a rider for using your vehicle for work. Just sayin' --- check into it, my friend was 18 and no one told them, and their employer didn't give them the facts that all they'd have is work comp for injuries, when their auto policy told them "sorry"... and that sucks.

@@copboom555 ... likely because in other countries those employees are compensated at a commensurate rate relevant to other employees that are not in a service position within that same industry. In the U.S.. it's typical for service positions to be lower wage positions in "expectation" that tips will drive their income higher. It's not true in ALL positions. Servers are often paid around $2.50(ish)/hr. Other positions may still get minimum wage or slightly higher.. but that's not enough alone to be a financial windfall. No.. I don't advocate for the $15/hr min wage. I think that is detrimental to business and drive to improve oneself.

3:50 I can't tell you exactly when this happened... this was a preinternet world. My great Aunt was at a Long John Silvers buying some food for my Uncle. During this time the LJS had a more open design where the back of house was a lot more exposed than in modern fast food settings. The idea was that you can see the frying of the food happening as you were getting your order. Something happened to the grease pit because it was poorly constructed... the entire thing just suddenly collapsed and the entire contents of boiling grease rushed out of it. My great Aunt ended up getting severely burned and permanently scarred from the grease burns. She ended up settling with LJC and the manufacturer of the grease pit. Long story short, my Great Aunt always wore long dresses and heavy stockings and my Uncle always tells this story everytime we would pass a Long John Silvers.

@MrDannyDetail
6 жыл бұрын
Out of interest were they cooked from frozen? And was there generally a habit of leaving some frozen product on the side for easier access, particularly during busy times? That, in my experience of a supermarket takeaway counter, can be why the official times are slightly too long. Also if the freezer, or fridge, is in constant use then the opening and closing of the door all the time can cause the temperature to be less cold inside than expected, which can also shorten the needed cooking time. I think McD's still do Mozzarella Sticks here in the U.K., but I'm not sure if it's a full time menu item, or something that is only available from time to time (like quite a few McD's items are here).

Another one that you missed is more internal than that which affects customers. While in drive throughs (specifically Hardees & McDonald’s) when they are timed in getting your food to you, they will ask you to pull up even when there are no cars behind you; so it looks like they completed your order on a timed basis. Apparently corporate looks at this for individual stores for job performance. I say stick it to them, when they ask you to pull up and no cars are behind you; you should just stay there and tell them you’ll wait for your food. And let’s be honest, like Joe Pesci said in “Lethal Weapon”; “…they #%^* you in the drive-through.” And don’t you love it when you order your meals you also get attitude at no extra cost.

I'm sure LJS probably weighed the bigger filets after cooking. I doubt they were trying to cheat anyone. 4-5 oz is a pretty standard size for filets. I get 1 lb packages of cod at a large chain grocery store, with 4 frozen filets in the package (they are great seasoned and baked, abd i control the sodium). Did not know there was so much sodium in that LJS meal. Hopefully it has gone down. There must be a lot of sodium in the batter, and i am sure there is some in the hushpuppies.

If you spend your money with LOCAL restaurants and with your neighbors all these problems will disappear. You will also help your local tax base, see the money you spend help locals in more ways. I don't shop big outsiders as I want my money to stay local where I can see it do some good. Most people have to have this explained to them, are you one?

Locally owned doesn't always mean scratch made or even higher quality. Most of the locally owned restaurants in my town are worse than the national chains. A lot of them had the same bright idea: "Let's buy ready-made items off the Sysco/PFG/Aramark truck and pass it off as home made!" The food these places sell reminds me of the inedible slop that was served back in high school. No small coincidence as Aramark has the contract for the local school district. I'm all for keeping money local but it's a two-way street. The restaurants need to put in some effort too. Serve a product that makes the national chains look good by comparison and I'll go to the national chains.

A tracker for pizza.... LMAO! Guess it's more work for employees too, like they don't have enough already. Always consider 3 things in running a business- Time, Energy, and Money. For it to run efficient you need less time and energy for more money. Giving your employees less time for more energy always equals less money, and less efficiency.

I went to Long John Silver's several years ago with my mom. There was a huge staple in my cole slaw. My mom called the manager over and told him I could have cut my mouth. He gave me my meal for free. Everytime I see coleslaw I think of that.

I'm a former butcher, and it's the equivalent of those customers who asked for a steak from my counter, then asked me to trim the fat off for them. They always wanted me to weigh and price it AFTER the fat had been trimmed, but policy was to weigh it BEFORE, because that means every customer pays the same exact same price for the exact same steak. Likewise on the fish counter, where some customers expected me to select them a whole fish, then fillet and pinbone it for them, then weigh and price it AFTER the filleting, when the fillets obviously weighed considerably less than the original whole fish, and bare in mind that whole fish were always a lower price per kilo than bought-in fillets of the same type of fish (for the same reason that the price still has to earn the company more-or-less the same price per fish even though a lot of the fish is not there if you only have the fillets), but they had chosen a whole fish, and chosen to ask me to fillet it for them, rather than buy the bought-in fillets, then they seemed surprised that me spending time filleting for them didn't somehow work out much cheaper than the bought-in fillets that I could just pick up from the counter and package right away.
