1112 people viewers are here to dig in and hone their skills. Thanks for the video. FASTgraphs is irreplaceable. I just wish the graph itself was taller - the new version seems to have squeezed the height of the graph, which downsizes fluctuations in both price and earnings. Also - if you're taking recommendations, it would be valuable to have data on standard deviations or correlations. The price will either hug adjusted earnings, EPS, Diluted, FCF or OCF the most, and either a standard deviation or a correlation figure or summary of correlations with those earnings metrics would be highly valuable. For example, if the price correlates to adjusted earnings with r = .85 over a ten year period, and the price correlates with OCF at r = .92 over the ten year period, you'd want to be watching OCF more so (all else equal). knowing the best correlation is also important because the forecasting function often varies significantly, based on whether you're using adjusted earnings, FCF, or something else. Some companies run themselves centric to operating cash flow, or FCF, or earnings, and so that sort of correlation data would be excellent to have for a little deeper analysis.

Great video. I am glad you are doing these series of video on how to use Fastgraphs features. Since subscribing I have learned a lot about the feature of the tool from watching the videos as you review different stocks. It took me a month to figure out how to use the calculator. These vids should speed up my learning process on how to most effectively use the tool. Thanks again

Fastgraphs is the best stock research tool I have come across, especially for the style of investing I do. I have had a premium subscription for a few years and thought I knew of every feature but I’ve never used the log graph before, appreciate the heads up about the dividend distortion when using that function… I will be taking a look at it

I bought the annual subscription last night and it's totally worth it. You got so much information about companies, including financials of the company. Totally worth it.

Excellent tutorial. Your delivery is perfectly paced - tons of useful information in a short time. I've been trying to work through the Value You Academy videos but the pace is so slow. Please continue these tutorials through to FUNgraphs and HealthCheck and Ratios. So much is told there. For example, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the significance of Return on Capital Employed when analyzing a company. I guess I want a Mr. Valuation MBA. Keep up the great work.

Rosalie Roku:If you go to fun graphs and then To the profitability ratios You will find ROCE and ROIC, If you graph them together you will see that both metrics correlates very closely on most but not all companies. Consequently, I would suggest that either of those metrics provide approximately similar insights into the financial health of the company. Nevertheless, my philosophy which I stated in the past is to simply take advantage of all the analytical horsepower at your disposal. In my humble opinion this is 1 of the things that make FG such a valuable analytical tool. It gives you the opportunity to look at a company from many different perspectives. Regards, Chuck

@@FASTgraphs thank you. Your explanation of these ratios and metrics is very clear. While I can look up the definitions of the various metrics and ratios, it is very helpful to have your insights and opinions on the significance of these values. While I intuitively understand earnings, sales, dividends, and price, I get lost in the meaning of these other ratios. I look forward to you continuing to think out loud with these ratios when analyzing a company using these new features of FASTgraphs. It helps to demonstrate which metrics have relevance to stock analysis in particular situations. Thank you.

Chuck. Great video. I have a question. Why is the adjusted operating earnings growth rate different when I choose the same periods on the "Historical" tab versus the "Forecasting" tab. For example, when I choose years 12/21 through 12/24 on the Historical tab for MO the Growth rate is 5.25% and on the "Forecasting" tab for MO, the growth rate is 5.09%. The PE is the same for both tabs - a PE of 15. Why are the growth rates not the same?

Mendelivium:it's a matter of focus. The historical graph focuses on the past but it includes the future forecasts when available. Simple exercise, add up the 4 earnings growth rates at the bottom of the historical graph (note minor rounding). 6% +5% +5% +5% equals 21% divided by 4 equals 5.25" percent. Now go to the forecasting calculator and only add the future years exclude the one historical. 5.10% +5.16% +5% equals 15.26÷3 = 5 .08666 (5.9% rounded). To summarize the historical graph focus on history and includes the historical data and the forecasting data. This is done for all time frames from Max to the shortest. In contrast the forecasting calculator only looks at the future years and ignores the historical. In other words, it simply a matter of the focus of each part of the tool. I hope this clarifies it, Chuck

@@FASTgraphs Perfect ! Thank you Chuck. I see it now. I was adding all 4 percentages together on the Forecast tab. It makes sense that the forecast concentrates on just the estimates. Good to know ! Thank you for replying.

Hey Chuck, have you done any video on FLWS that I could watch as would be interested to see your analysis of it as seems to be fairly cheap based on dcf calculations or multiple of earnings and hasn't had negative free cash flow since 2006

I recently subscribed to Morningstar’s YT channel. They’ve featured some stocks… I researched some with FASTgraphs. Yikes, I don’t think they picked good options. Chuck, I trust your system more than I trust Morningstar.
